As Medical Science Liaison (Cardiometabolic), you will be a trusted scientific partner to healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders and academic institutions across Alberta. You will turn complex clinical evidence into clear, relevant scientific exchange and bring insights from the field back to shape medical strategy. Your work helps healthcare professionals apply evidence in real-life care, supporting progress for people living with cardiometabolic disease, obesity and diabetes across Canada.

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

An advanced scientific or healthcare degree (PhD, MD or PharmD), or a Master’s degree in a science-related field combined with relevant clinical and/or industry experience.

3–5 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience, or equivalent professional experience in a scientific or medical discipline.

A strong ability to interpret complex clinical data and present it clearly and confidently to healthcare professionals and academic stakeholders.

Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and a service-oriented mindset that help you build respectful, collaborative relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and healthcare teams.

Residence in Alberta (Edmonton Preferred), with the ability to cover the full Alberta territory.

Flexibility to travel frequently – up to 80% – including overnight travel and travel to the US and internationally as required.

A valid driver’s licence and a valid passport/visa enabling travel to the United States and Europe for scientific meetings.

The legal right to reside and work in Canada.

Nice to have:

Experience engaging with Key Opinion Leaders in cardiometabolic disease, obesity or diabetes – this is highly valued.

Experience supporting clinical research, such as investigator-initiated studies or clinical trial activities.

What you’ll do

You will be a scientific bridge between the clinical community and Novo Nordisk, making sure healthcare professionals in cardiometabolic medicine have accurate, relevant information – and that what you learn in the field shapes what we do next.

Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and healthcare professionals, tailoring scientific exchange to the needs of those working in cardiometabolic medicine.

Communicate complex clinical and scientific information clearly, providing robust medical education on clinical data and molecule knowledge.

Identify and report unmet medical needs and field insights to inform medical strategy and development.

Support clinical research, including investigator-initiated studies and clinical trial activities.

Represent Novo Nordisk Canada at conferences and scientific meetings, presenting data and gathering insights.

Respond to scientific inquiries with scientific integrity and full compliance.

Who you’ll work with

You will join the Cardiometabolic Medical Science Liaison team within Medical & Regulatory at Novo Canada. In Canada, the team provides scientific expertise, strategic medical guidance and strong partnerships with the clinical community.

Externally, your closest partners will be Key Opinion Leaders, healthcare professionals and academic institutions across Alberta. Internally, you will work closely with colleagues in Medical Affairs, Access, Clinical, Regulatory and Commercial to align on scientific objectives – bringing the voice of the field into decisions and helping teams move with clarity and speed.

Field insights you gather will help shape medical strategy, so your expertise has a direct route to influence. Salary: For this role, the annual base salary ranges from $116,680 – $166,680. Placement in the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on your skills, competencies and knowledge, and how your relevant experience matches the position requirements.

Incentives: Based on the role’s level and other factors, the salary package may include short-term (STI) and/or long-term (LTI) incentives.
