What you will do

The (Sr.) Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Cardiometabolic will serve as a field-based medical and scientific expert, advancing Amgen’s bone portfolio and pipeline through high-impact medical and scientific initiatives. The role is responsible for strategically executing scientific engagement plans in alignment with global and local medical objectives.

As a trusted scientific partner, the MSL communicates accurate, balanced, and evidence-based scientific information to external healthcare stakeholders, while generating high-quality medical insights to inform cross-functional strategy. The MSL supports evidence generation, medical education, and appropriate access to Amgen therapies, consistently upholding the highest standards of medical compliance, professionalism, and patient-centricity aligned with local standards of care.

Main Responsibilities:

Scientific Engagement & External Stakeholder Partnership

Engage healthcare professionals, opinion leaders, payers, and other key stakeholders to communicate clinical, scientific, outcomes, and health-economic data related to Amgen’s bone therapeutic area.

Develop and execute local opinion leader (OL) plans aligned with the scientific engagement strategy and annual MSL objectives.

Lead and support scientific exchange activities, including advisory boards, investigator meetings, expert panels, and congress engagements, in accordance with medical strategy.

Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries in compliance with MSL guidelines and local regulatory requirements.

Medical Insights & Strategy Enablement

Collect, analyze, and communicate field medical insights to internal stakeholders to inform medical, R&D, access, and cross-functional strategies.

Support the local Medical Brand Plan by integrating scientific insights, patient perspectives, and local standards of care.

Identify unmet needs and scientific gaps, proposing solutions that advance Amgen’s medical value proposition while demonstrating Amgen values and leadership behaviors.

Evidence Generation & Research Support

Support Amgen-sponsored and supported research, including investigator engagement, site identification, and profiling.

Review and support Investigator-Sponsored Study (ISS) proposals in alignment with internal governance and review processes.

May serve as a study contact or lead, providing scientific oversight, reporting, and communication updates as required.

Provide local clinical and treatment landscape input to support study feasibility and site selection.

Cross-Functional & Internal Collaboration

Collaborate compliantly with commercial, value & access, medical communications, regulatory, and other internal partners to support aligned objectives.

Contribute scientific and medical expertise to regulatory, reimbursement, and policy-related documentation as needed.

Support speaker training to ensure external speakers remain current on emerging data and scientific updates.

Operational Excellence & Capability Development

Execute assigned activities in accordance with MSL metrics, documentation standards, CRM requirements, and reporting timelines.

Maintain a high level of clinical, scientific, and therapeutic area expertise by completing required training in a timely manner.

May serve as a mentor, trainer, or training lead, including support for new hires or international MSL development.

Support medical education initiatives and contribute to congress key learnings and internal knowledge sharing.

What we expect of you

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.

Relevant experience in a medical, scientific, or clinical role within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare environment, including hospital-based experience, with demonstrated capability in scientific exchange with healthcare professionals.

Preferred Requirements:

Doctoral degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., D.O.) or Master’s degree in a scientific or medically related discipline.

1–4 years of experience in Medical Affairs or Scientific Affairs within a biotech or pharmaceutical company.

1–3 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison or equivalent field-based medical role.

Strong background in clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research, including experience with study design, evaluation, and evidence generation.

Therapeutic area expertise in Bone / musculoskeletal diseases strongly preferred.

Demonstrated ability to engage and influence external medical experts and internal stakeholders through scientific credibility.

Strong communication skills, including scientific presentation, medical writing, and documentation.

Proficiency in spoken and written English; local language fluency required.

Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, compliance, and professionalism, consistent with Amgen values.
