Job Description

Director, Value Strategy & Marketing - Rare Disease & Oncology

Amgen has an exciting opportunity for an experienced U.S. Value & Access leader to lead Value Strategy & Marketing across the Rare Disease and Oncology portfolio. The Director will connect payer insights, evidence strategy, value communication, and customer engagement to support sustainable coverage and patient access across inline, launch, and pipeline assets. The Rare Disease portfolio includes TAVNEOS, TEPEZZA, UPLIZNA, and KRYSTEXXA; priority Oncology assets include LUMAKRAS, IMDELLTRA, xaluritamig, and future oncology biosimilar assets.

The Director will lead a team of two Senior Managers and serve as a senior strategic partner across Brand, Coverage & Pricing, Market Access, Medical Value & Population Health (MVPH), HEOR, Center for Observational Research (CfOR), U.S. Medical, Patient Access, Insights, Trade, and Global Value & Access. The role is accountable for setting portfolio priorities, building differentiated payer value strategies, and ensuring the team focuses resources on the access opportunities that matter most.

Key responsibilities also include:

Lead portfolio value strategy across Rare Disease and Oncology, translating brand objectives, payer dynamics, competitive change, and access barriers into clear priorities and actionable strategies.

Define differentiated payer value propositions for priority assets and ensure clinical, economic, real-world, and population-level evidence is translated into credible customer value stories.

Guide U.S. payer-relevant evidence strategy with HEOR, CfOR, Medical, Brand, and Insights; identify evidence gaps and shape studies intended to defend coverage, improve quality of coverage, and support appropriate patient identification and treatment.

Ensure payer and reimbursement considerations are integrated early into launch, indication-expansion, and lifecycle planning, including medical-benefit, pharmacy-benefit, site-of-care, specialty distribution, and utilization-management dynamics.

Partner with Market Access and MVPH leadership to shape customer engagement priorities, prepare for high-value payer and health-system discussions, and translate field insights into broader portfolio actions.

Partner with Coverage & Pricing to ensure value strategy complements coverage, pricing, contracting, and reimbursement strategies while maintaining clear functional accountability.

Oversee development and deployment of payer value resources, including payer customer value aids (CVAs), economic tools, RWE communications, health care economic information (HCEI) and pre-approval information exchange (PIE) resources where appropriate, payer FAQs, training, and customer-specific materials.

Lead, coach, and develop two Senior Managers; establish clear portfolio ownership, operating rhythms, and expectations for strategic thinking, cross-functional leadership, and executional excellence.

Champion AI-enabled ways of working across Value Strategy & Marketing, using approved AI tools to accelerate insight synthesis, evidence translation, strategic development, content creation, and team productivity.

Build AI capability across the team by identifying high-value use cases, encouraging responsible experimentation, sharing best practices, and ensuring adherence to company policies, privacy, compliance, and review requirements.

Manage portfolio budgets, agency relationships, and investment priorities; allocate resources to the highest-value strategic opportunities and establish measures of impact.

Communicate opportunities, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations with clarity to senior leadership and drive alignment across a complex matrix.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
