Job Description

Brief Description

The Director, Market Access Marketing is a key strategic partner and leader responsible for driving the development and execution of the market access strategy for the Sleep Franchise. This individual is accountable for leading critical components of the multi-year access strategy, from the payer value narrative to pull-through execution, ensuring these plans align with and inform the overarching franchise strategy.

This role requires a leader with deep market access and marketing expertise who can operate with a high degree of independence to drive results. The Director will provide strategic governance and steer a cross-functional matrix, partnering seamlessly with Payer Account Management, Brand Marketing, HEOR, Sales, Patient Access Services, and other key functions, to translate strategic objectives into high-impact, actionable plans. The ideal candidate is a proactive, forward-thinking leader who can not only execute with excellence but also serve as a primary thought partner in shaping the future of market access for the Sleep Franchise.

Essential Functions

Market Access Strategy Development & Execution: In partnership with the Executive Director, lead the development of the annual and long-range Market Access strategic plans for the Sleep Franchise. Drive the execution of these plans, establishing clear objectives and KPIs to ensure alignment with brand imperatives.

Payer Value Architecture: Champion and drive the development of the overarching Payer Value Proposition. Collaborate with HEOR, Medical Affairs, and Commercial Brand Marketing to translate clinical differentiation and economic evidence into high-impact payer access strategies that feed into the franchise-level narrative.

Independent Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic liaison to cross-functional partners. Independently drive commercial alignment on net revenue and coverage goals, and represent Market Access insights to inform evidence generation and pipeline strategy.

Strategic Forecasting & Insight Generation: Formulate key business questions and drive strategic intelligence through advanced market research and policy tracking. Proactively identify and assess the impact of environmental shifts, providing strategic recommendations to the Executive Director.

Pull-Through Strategy & Field Enablement: Design and govern the strategic framework for Market Access pull-through. Define operational priorities and lead the development of innovative tools and resources to equip Payer Account Executives, Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs), and Field Sales for effective execution.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive commercial pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical experience, with substantial focus in Market Access Marketing, Payer Strategy, or related commercial functions.

Strategic Acumen & Independent Drive: Proven ability to independently develop and drive significant components of a commercial access strategy and navigate complex, evolving reimbursement environments.

Matrix Influence & Collaboration: Exceptional matrix leadership skills; demonstrated track record of aligning cross-functional teams and driving consensus as a senior individual contributor.

Ecosystem Expertise: Deep knowledge of US healthcare delivery models, PBM/health plan dynamics, formulary tier design, utilization management criteria, and specialty distribution channels.

Communication & Executive Presence: Outstanding communication skills, with extensive experience presenting strategic plans and business cases to senior management and serving as a credible thought partner to executive leadership.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree (MS, MPH, PharmD) strongly preferred.

Preferred: Experience in Neuroscience/Sleep Therapeutic areas and lifecycle management.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
