Summary:

The Director of Innovation (Innovative Models & External Partnerships) is a critical role  within Market Access Intelligence & Innovation (Global Pricing & Health Systems Analytics).

As part of a lean, integrated innovation team, this role contributes across the innovation lifecycle, with primary ownership for identifying, shaping, and incubating innovative access and pricing models before transition to pilot execution. The team’s near-term focus is PBM disruption, including new pricing, access, rebate, contracting, and alternative reimbursement models, with learnings extending over time to broader market access priorities.

This leader translates emerging signals (e.g., PBMs, policy shifts, ecosystem changes, new technologies) into actionable innovation concepts and new business models, and activates external partnerships to accelerate development. The role works in close partnership with a complementary team focused on AI and digital execution, ensuring innovative models are effectively translated into scalable, digitally enabled solutions.

Responsibilities:

Build and Manage the Innovation Pipeline: Support the day-to-day management of the innovation pipeline, from intake, triage, and prioritization support through portfolio shaping, translating external signals into clear value hypotheses, pilot-ready concepts, and recommendations for leadership review

Lead Innovation Concept Development & Incubation: Develop and pressure-test new pricing and access models, by defining feasibility, success criteria, risks, outcomes, and stakeholder alignment before pilot handoff

Activate and Manage External Partnerships: Identify, evaluate, and engage targeted external stakeholders, such as transparent PBMs, benefit consultants, alternative reimbursement players, and other non-traditional market access partners, to inform PBM disruption opportunities, shape new model concepts, and accelerate readiness for pilot consideration

Connect Intelligence to Innovation: Partner with Intelligence team to convert market signals into actionable innovation opportunities, ensuring a clear link from signal detection to concept development, portfolio progression, and executive decision-making

Enable Portfolio Governance & Decision-Making: Develop structured inputs for annual strategic-theme alignment, early-signal stakeholder discussions, and quarterly steering committee reviews, applying evaluation frameworks to surface risks, tradeoffs, recommendations, and success measures such as pilot-ready concepts, signal-to concept cycle time, and adoption of learnings by business owners

Partner Across Functions: Collaborate across Access Strategy, Pricing, GPGA, Legal, Digital/AI, and senior leadership to shape viable innovation concepts and define business requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required. MBA, MPH, MS, PharmD, or equivalent advanced degree preferred (or comparable experience)

10+ years in pharma/healthcare with experience in Market Access, Pricing, Commercialization, or related areas

Strong experience in innovative access or pricing models, business model strategy, or external partnerships

Deep understanding of market access ecosystem dynamics (e.g., PBMs, payer behavior, policy trends)

Proven ability to translate external signals into actionable strategic opportunities

Experience managing or working with external partners and vendors

Strong strategic thinking and ability to structure ambiguous challenges

Excellent executive communication skills

Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable operating in ambiguity

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
