About this opportunity
Global Contract Manufacturing DS | EMTO Intermediate & Small Molecule API | Høje Taastrup, Denmark
Do you have experience within pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing and enjoy solving complex technical challenges? Are you motivated by collaborating with external partners and influencing production across a global network of manufacturing sites? Then you could be the Production Specialist we are looking for to help bridge the gap between Novo Nordisk and our external manufacturing partners while ensuring the successful delivery of life-changing medicines.
Your new role
As a Production Specialist – External Manufacturing, you will join External Manufacturing Technology & Optimization (EMTO), a department responsible for supporting and optimising manufacturing activities at Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMO’s) producing intermediates and small molecule drug substances on behalf of Novo Nordisk.
EMTO serves as the technical link between Novo Nordisk and our external manufacturing partners. In this role, you will ensure that facilities, equipment, validation activities, and quality systems are capable of supporting reliable and compliant production. You will work closely with project managers, process experts, quality professionals, and external partners to establish successful manufacturing operations and drive continuous improvements.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Reviewing and approving technical and GMP-related documentation, including validation reports, master batch records, change requests, and deviation investigations.
Acting as a subject matter expert on manufacturing processes, production facilities, equipment, and validation activities.
Supporting the assessment, onboarding, and implementation of new Contract Manufacturing Organisations.
Ensuring alignment between Novo Nordisk requirements and external quality management systems.
Leading and supporting technical improvement initiatives that strengthen manufacturing performance, compliance, and operational excellence.
This is a highly visible role with significant stakeholder interaction across a global organisation. International collaboration is an integral part of the position, and you can expect approximately 10–20 travel days annually.
Your new department
EMTO Intermediate & Small Molecule API is part of Drug Substance within Global Contract Manufacturing (GCM).
Our department plays a critical role in establishing, supporting, and optimising manufacturing operations at external partners located across Europe, North America, and East Asia. We work closely with Contract Manufacturing Organisations to ensure that production processes meet Novo Nordisk's standards for quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
The team consists of 14 experienced specialists with strong backgrounds in pharmaceutical sciences, manufacturing, chemistry, and quality systems. Based in Høje Taastrup, we offer a collaborative environment where technical expertise, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement are highly valued.
Joining EMTO means becoming part of a team that combines scientific expertise with business impact, helping to secure a reliable supply chain while building strong partnerships with manufacturers around the world.
Your skills and qualifications
We are looking for a curious and scientifically minded professional who enjoys working across organisational boundaries and turning complex challenges into practical solutions.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
A Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Engineering, or another relevant scientific discipline.
Significant experience from pharmaceutical manufacturing, chemical production, process industries, or Contract Manufacturing Organisations.
Strong knowledge of GMP, validation, documentation practices, and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
A solid understanding of organic chemistry, ideally gained within the pharmaceutical, food, dairy, or related manufacturing sectors.
Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
As a person, you are collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working independently. You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and are skilled at building trust-based relationships. Similar opportunities
The closest matches from our peer group, ranked by how similar they are, not how well you'd qualify for them -- treat this as market context, not a guaranteed shortlist; a weak match is labeled as one below.
How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
