Your impact begins here
As Senior Manager, Search & Evaluation, you will help Novo find and assess the external drug and technology opportunities that could shape our future portfolio. You will evaluate early ideas, take promising opportunities through due diligence and build the value story that helps senior leaders decide. Working globally with scientists, biotech companies and investors, you will help bring new science towards people living with diabetes, obesity and other serious chronic diseases.
What you’ll bring
You combine scientific curiosity with business sense, and you can turn complex information into clear recommendations.
A master’s degree in business or life sciences.
5+ years of experience in R&D, business development or professional services within the pharma or biotech industry, or in an equivalent role.
Project management skills and experience.
The ability to analyse complex ideas and data and turn them into clear, well-founded recommendations for senior stakeholders.
Experience working in cross-functional teams, with clear communication and strong teamwork.
Strong written and presentation skills.
Strong networking, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
Strategic business and financial acumen, and a deep interest in life sciences and medicine.
A self-driven, goal-oriented approach, and the ability to work well in a dynamic environment.
Useful, but not essential:
An MD or PhD.
Knowledge of, or experience in, clinical drug development in relevant therapeutic areas.
What you’ll do
You will be part of the first step in how Novo brings in external innovation, from the first scouting conversation through to due diligence and negotiation support.
Identify novel pipeline assets and enabling technologies through scouting, professional networks, literature, database and patent searches, and conferences across diabetes, obesity, CVD, liver, blood and endocrine disorders, and Consumer Rx.
Support technical streams of evaluation and due diligence, from initial assessment through to due diligence project management.
Build the value story for selected opportunities and prepare presentations for governance boards, so senior management can make well-informed decisions.
Develop and maintain detailed therapy area landscapes with colleagues across Search & Evaluation, including external perspectives on competitors and their strategies.
Keep a strategic overview of internal and business development pipeline assets, and use your internal and external networks to define which assets are needed and how they fit.
Support Business Development in licence and collaboration negotiations, represent Novo as a preferred partner at scientific congresses and events, keep opportunity tracking in Inova up to date, and help improve due diligence and landscaping processes.
Who you’ll work with
You will join Search, Evaluation & Intelligence (SE&I), part of Global Business Development (GBD), and report to the Head of Global Evaluation. SE&I is the primary entry point for external drug and technology opportunities at Novo, running proactive scouting campaigns across start-ups, biotechnology companies and venture capital firms.
You will work closely with Business Development teams in Denmark and Cambridge, USA, and with colleagues across the value chain who help assess each opportunity. Externally, you will use and grow your network across biotech companies, venture capital firms and large pharma communities.
This role works globally, so you will bring different perspectives together, create clarity and keep opportunities moving.
What you can expect here
You will work independently on specific projects, with guidance from your manager and senior colleagues on broader strategy and significant decisions. Your voice and expertise will count in discussions that influence which science Novo pursues.
You will build new skills through exposure to different therapy areas, functions and external partners, and grow alongside colleagues in a global, fast-moving environment.

How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
