About this opportunity

Your impact begins here

As Lead AI Engineer, you will be the senior technical authority in Rapid Enablement's SWAT engagements: time-boxed, cross-functional sprints that take a business area's AI opportunity from idea to a clear, evidence-based decision on what happens next. You will build what it takes to prove or disprove value and feasibility within a fixed timebox, and lead the reusable enterprise agents the team will own. Your work shows Novo where AI can make a real difference, faster.

What you’ll bring

You are equally comfortable being the technical authority in the room and getting hands-on to prove an idea fast. Depending on your experience, you will bring:

A strong track record of taking AI-centric applications from idea to a working solution across code first and low-code/no-code platforms.

hands-on experience with modern AI engineering: LLMs, agents, evaluation frameworks, vector databases and semantic search, and related tooling.

Functional knowledge of modern AI standards (MCP, A2A, Agent Skills, OpenTelemetry or similar) and agentic IDE tooling (VSC, Cursor, Claude Code, Codex or similar).

Experience setting technical direction or standards for other engineers, and mentoring less senior colleagues.

The ability to work directly and confidently with senior business stakeholders, turning ambiguous problems into a scoped, testable technical approach under time pressure.

Fluency with modern software development practices, including CI/CD and Git.

A rapid prototyping instinct and a high degree of innovation: you quickly turn complex problems into testable solutions.

An MSc, PhD or similar graduate degree in engineering, computer science, data science or a related field, or equivalent depth of experience.

What you’ll do

You will lead the technical work that helps business areas decide, with evidence, whether an AI opportunity is worth scaling.

Act as the senior hands-on engineer in SWAT engagements, architecting and building the technical solution needed to prove or disprove an opportunity's value and feasibility within a fixed timebox.

Set technical direction and standards across engagements, including architecture choices, AI patterns and evaluation approaches that hold up under real business stakeholder scrutiny.

Work closely with the team's AI Process designers to turn a redesigned business process into a working, testable technical solution.

Lead the solutioning and technical implementation of reusable enterprise agents that Rapid Enablement keeps standing operational ownership of.

Mentor and pair with less senior engineers, so technical quality holds even when engagements run at pace.

Who you’ll work with

You will join Rapid Enablement, part of AI Employee Experience & Enablement within Enterprise AI. The team exists to rapidly accelerate high-value AI opportunities across the Novo value chain, from idea to evidence-based proof of value, and to build reusable enterprise productivity agents. It is a dynamic and growing team, and its cross-functional engagements have a direct impact on how AI gets adopted across Novo.

Day to day, you will work with the team's AI Process designers, with senior and junior engineers you mentor and pair with, and with senior business stakeholders from the business areas you support. When an engagement needs specialised competences, you will collaborate with technical peers from other Enterprise AI teams. The work is cloud-native and runs across Novo's internal platforms, including Databricks, Snowflake, ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot Studio, spanning both no-code and code-first approaches.

Your team will be part of Enterprise AI, working closely with colleagues across the business to understand their needs and support our shared goal of reaching millions of people living with serious chronic diseases and creating lasting health.

What you can expect here

Every engagement takes you into a different part of the Novo value chain, so you will keep building new skills and broaden your view of where AI creates value. You will grow alongside colleagues on the job and be part of Novo's work to upskill its workforce in AI and technology. You will be trusted to own technical decisions and make your voice heard, and you will be supported to perform at your best.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
