About this opportunity

Department: Portfolio Strategy, Insights & Access (PSIA), Product & Portfolio Strategy

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark – global scope

Your impact begins here

As GVP, Portfolio Strategy, Insights & Access, you will lead the team that shapes where Novo invests across its portfolio. You will turn market, customer, competitor and access insights into clear recommendations for Executive Management, guiding choices on pipeline, lifecycle management, launches and business development. Working from Denmark with a global scope, you will make sure every portfolio decision balances patient impact, access feasibility and financial value, so the right treatments reach the people who need them.

What you’ll bring

This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines strategic depth with the confidence to guide decisions at the highest level. You will bring:

An advanced degree, such as an MBA, MSc, PhD, PharmD or MD, or a degree in Economics, Public Health or an equivalent field.

15–20+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, pharmaceuticals, market access, forecasting, commercial excellence or portfolio management.

Experience presenting to executive leadership and governance boards, with strong executive-ready storytelling for decision forums.

Proven people leadership and stakeholder management experience, including leading large, diverse, cross-functional teams.

Strong strategic, commercial and analytical capabilities – you are data-driven and able to make decisions under uncertainty.

A proven ability to balance patient impact, access considerations and financial outcomes.

The confidence to challenge and influence C-suite and SVP-level stakeholders.

Useful, but not essential:

Experience developing innovative payment models or working with access partners, such as telehealth providers.

What you’ll do

You will lead the strategic engine behind Novo’s portfolio decisions – connecting strategy, evidence, forecasting and access into recommendations that senior leaders can act on.

Define and drive long-term portfolio strategies across therapy areas, assessing pipeline, lifecycle management and business development opportunities.

Lead strategic evaluations of portfolio investments and prioritisation and bring clear recommendations to Executive Management and governance committees, such as the Portfolio Committee.

Translate market, customer (healthcare professionals, patients and consumers), competitor and healthcare system insights into actionable direction, supported by ongoing competitive intelligence and horizon scanning.

Shape long-range forecast assumptions, scenario planning and business cases for pipeline assets, launches and strategic investments to support resource allocation.

Integrate payer, reimbursement and health technology assessment (HTA) considerations into portfolio decisions and make sure access strategies are reflected in development and commercialisation plans.

Raise the quality and speed of decision support by improving scenario planning methods, competitive assessment approaches and shared decision frameworks.

Provide strategic leadership across NPP, Early Pipeline & Exploratory, helping shape the future portfolio and translate early opportunities into clear strategic choices. You will work closely with R&D and other key functions to bring patient, market and commercial perspectives into early asset and indication strategies, while driving senior-level alignment on portfolio priorities and investment decisions.

 Who you’ll work with

You will lead Portfolio Strategy, Insights & Access, a team of around 140 colleagues, through four direct reports, and report to the Executive Vice President of Product & Portfolio Strategy. In Product & Portfolio Strategy, colleagues connect commercial strategy, medical affairs and business development across therapy areas, helping guide the Novo portfolio and strengthen competitiveness.

You will partner with Executive Management and governance committees, Commercial, Medical, Development, Finance and Operations leadership, global and affiliate Market Access teams, and Corporate Strategy, Business Development and Portfolio Management. You will also work with regional leadership teams to align assumptions, access strategy and launch planning.

Externally, you will engage health economics and market access advisors, HTA bodies, payers and insurers, industry consortia, academic experts and channel partners. Across all these relationships, your role is to create clarity, build alignment without direct authority and keep decisions moving at pace.

What you can expect here

You will hold a position where your voice directly shapes decisions on investment, prioritisation and commercialisation across therapy areas. You will be trusted to own the recommendations you bring, to challenge with honest, evidence-based perspectives and, once a decision is made, to commit and move forward together.

You will lead a large, multidisciplinary organisation and build new skills through work that spans the value chain – from development and access to launch and lifecycle management. You will help set the standard for strategic analytics, forecasting and business case development across Novo.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
