About this opportunity

Department: API Large Projects EHS

Location: Kalundborg

Your impact begins here

As Commissioning and Qualification Safety Lead, you will be the strategic Health & Safety partner for commissioning, qualification, operational readiness and start-up across Novo’s major capital investment projects. You will help project and operational leaders build safety into every step, from first commissioning to start-up, and strengthen the framework that guides how our process plants are brought into operation. Your work helps new capacity start safely, today and for the people who rely on it.

What you’ll bring

You are a Health & Safety leader who is at home in complex project environments and can earn the trust of senior leaders.

• A relevant engineering degree or an equivalent qualification.

• Minimum 5 years of Health & Safety leadership experience in complex project environments.

• Practical experience and a deep understanding of commissioning, qualification and operational readiness.

• Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into effective operational actions

• A proven ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders, and to be a trusted advisor with strong credibility.

• Strategic and commercial awareness, with the ability to weigh risks and opportunities in the context of the business.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

• A drive for continuous improvement and organizational learning.

• Fluent English.

Useful, but not essential:

• Experience from the pharmaceutical industry, or from electrical or oil & gas environments.

• Danish language skills.

What you’ll do

You will make sure Health & Safety is part of how our projects commission and start up, not an afterthought. You will do this by:

• Partnering with project leadership teams to integrate Health & Safety into commissioning and start-up activities.

• Driving development, implementation and maturity of Novo’s Health & Safety Commissioning Process Plants framework.

• Providing strategic guidance on significant Health & Safety risks and opportunities.

• Influencing senior stakeholders to strengthen leadership, culture and performance.

• Translating lessons learned into continuous improvement of standards and governance.

• Promoting alignment between project and operational organisations, so the handover to operations is clear and consistent.

Who you’ll work with

You will join Global Manufacturing & Supply, working in API Large Projects EHS. In Global Manufacturing & Supply, colleagues work across the value chain from drug and device development to marketed Novo products, scaling molecules, processes, devices and products for the people who need them.

Your closest partner will be the SVP Health & Safety Partner. You will also work with Project Vice Presidents and Project Directors, Commissioning and Operational Readiness leadership teams, site Health & Safety organisations, and colleagues across Engineering, Quality and Operations. Beyond Novo, you will engage with external partners and industry networks to bring in fresh perspectives and share what works.

These relationships help you act with clarity: speaking up early when priorities are stalling, aligning project and operations, and keeping decisions moving at pace.

What you can expect here

You will have a visible, senior-level role where your expertise is valued and your voice shapes decisions on some of Novo’s most significant capital investment projects. Working across projects, sites and functions gives you the chance to broaden your perspective and build new skills through cross-value-chain experience.

You will be trusted to take ownership and supported to perform at your best, with clear expectations and a culture that values honest feedback, learning and results.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
