With a mission to empower people worldwide to live healthier at every stage of life, we provide access at scale, currently supplying high-quality medicines to approximately 1 billion patients around the world annually and touching all of life's moments, from birth to the end of life, acute conditions to chronic diseases.

We have been included on number of award lists that demonstrate the impact we are making.

Every day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and here is how the Strategic Access Manager, Mexico role will make an impact:

The Strategic Access Manager will be primarily responsible for leading market access strategy and execution across Mexico, identifying and prioritizing public and private access opportunities and translating them into actionable account and portfolio strategies. The role will optimize patient access, reimbursement and sustainable business opportunities for the Viatris portfolio while ensuring strong cross-functional governance and execution.

As the Mexico access model evolves, the role will connect strategy with field execution by providing direct leadership and direction to the Field Access resource(s). The Strategic Access Manager will establish priorities, account plans, objectives and performance measures, coach field execution and ensure that customer insights are translated back into strategy. During the build-up phase, the role may also act as the Access Account Lead for selected strategic accounts until the channel reaches sufficient scale and a sustainable commercial ownership model is established.

The role works closely with Medical, Commercial, Pricing/Finance, Regulatory, Corporate Affairs, Legal/Compliance, Customer Service, Supply, Master Data and Global Market Access teams.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

Market Access Strategy & Governance

Identify, map, segment and prioritize national, regional and institutional access opportunities across public and private healthcare systems.

Develop and execute integrated market access strategies to optimize reimbursement, formulary inclusion, coverage and patient access.

Assess access barriers, funding pathways and reimbursement challenges and define mitigation plans and measurable milestones.

Establish account-level access objectives, strategic roadmaps, KPIs and governance routines for prioritized opportunities.

Support launch readiness by incorporating market access requirements into asset and brand plans.

Orchestrate cross-functional decision making on access opportunities, ensuring clarity of roles, timelines and required resources.

Public Market Access

Support access strategies involving IMSS, ISSSTE, IMSS Bienestar, state healthcare systems and relevant HTA and institutional decision-making bodies.

Monitor policy, reimbursement and healthcare system developments that may impact access.

Support preparation of value dossiers, reimbursement submissions and public market access initiatives.

Coordinate internal readiness for relevant institutional access opportunities and implementation requirements.

Private Market Access & Strategic Accounts

Analyze the private payer and healthcare administrator landscape, including coverage criteria, formulary decision-making, covered populations and potential portfolio fit.

Prioritize insurers, healthcare administrators and other strategic private accounts based on access potential, strategic relevance and feasibility.

Develop account-specific access strategies and value propositions, including potential commercial access models in partnership with Commercial and Pricing/Finance.

Lead strategic access engagement with priority private accounts and support complex negotiations, ensuring alignment with internal governance and compliance requirements.

During the build-up phase, serve as Access Account Lead for selected strategic accounts, coordinating internal stakeholders and ensuring continuity of account knowledge and next steps. This hands-on account coordination is expected to evolve as the channel scales and long-term commercial ownership is established.

Ensure access agreements are translated into clear implementation plans and monitor progress, escalating operational barriers to the appropriate functional owners.

Field Access Leadership

Provide direct people leadership, coaching and performance management for the Mexico Field Access resource(s).

Translate affiliate and account access strategies into clear field priorities, account objectives, stakeholder plans and execution milestones.

Conduct regular account reviews with Field Access, monitor progress and redirect activities based on business priorities and emerging customer insights.

Ensure Field Access focuses on access strategy execution, stakeholder engagement, barrier removal and implementation of access initiatives, while maintaining close coordination with Commercial on business execution and demand generation.

Build field access capabilities, tools and ways of working that can scale as the number and complexity of access opportunities increase.

Create an effective feedback loop from field insights to affiliate access strategy, account prioritization and portfolio planning.

Value Demonstration & Evidence Strategy

Translate clinical and economic evidence into clear payer- and account-focused value propositions.

Collaborate with Medical, HEOR and Pricing teams on economic models, budget impact analyses and value communication materials.

Identify evidence gaps that may limit access and contribute to evidence-generation priorities.

Support development of payer-facing tools, presentations and access resources in accordance with applicable governance.

Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Map healthcare decision-makers, influencers and market access stakeholders across priority public and private accounts.

Generate strategic customer and market insights to inform affiliate, portfolio and regional planning.

Partner with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Pricing/Finance, Regulatory, Corporate Affairs, Legal/Compliance, Customer Service, Supply, Master Data, Global Pricing and Global Market Access teams.

Coordinate internal resolution of access-related barriers without becoming the permanent operational owner of activities that naturally belong to enabling functions.

Promote clear account ownership, documentation and continuity of knowledge to reduce dependency on individual stakeholders.

Access Performance & Business Impact

Define and monitor access KPIs such as opportunities prioritized, accounts progressed, access milestones achieved, products included, covered populations unlocked and implementation status.

In partnership with Commercial and Finance, monitor the business impact and performance of implemented access agreements versus the approved business case.

Use performance data and field insights to refine account prioritization, access strategy and resource allocation.

Ensure Market Access remains accountable for access outcomes while partnering with Commercial on conversion of enabled access into sustainable business growth.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Economics, Public Health, Business Administration, Health Sciences, or a related field.

Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MSc, or specialization in Market Access, HEOR, or Health Economics) preferred.

5–8 years of relevant experience in Market Access, Strategic Accounts, Payer Management, HEOR, Pricing, Value Demonstration, or related functions.

Strong understanding of the Mexican healthcare system, reimbursement landscape, and public and private payer environments.

Knowledge of health economics, outcomes research, pricing principles, and value-based healthcare.

Strong strategic thinking, analytical, negotiation, stakeholder management, and project management skills.

Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively in complex, matrixed organizations.

Advanced English and Spanish required; Portuguese is a strong advantage.

Thinks strategically while remaining close enough to execution to identify barriers early and accelerate resolution.

Creates clarity of ownership and empowers Field Access and cross-functional partners to execute against agreed priorities.

Balances patient access, business sustainability, compliance and long-term customer relationships in decision making.

Builds scalable capabilities and processes rather than relying on individual knowledge or ad hoc execution.

Demonstrates strong collaboration, accountability and constructive challenge across functions and levels.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
