About this opportunity

The Regional Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert responsible for advancing CSL's nephrology portfolio across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates through non-promotional scientific exchange, stakeholder engagement, evidence-generation support, medical education, and insight collection. The role serves as the primary Medical Affairs interface with nephrologists, scientific leaders, investigators, healthcare institutions, and relevant medical and patient societies to improve patient outcomes and support the appropriate use of CSL therapies in kidney diseases. Approximately 80% of working time is expected to be spent in the field, including extensive travel across KSA and UAE, with occasional regional or international travel according to role requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Scientific Engagement & External Expert Management

Establish and maintain trusted scientific partnerships with nephrologists and other relevant healthcare professionals.

Develop and execute strategic engagement plans for key opinion leaders, emerging experts, and scientific stakeholders.

Deliver balanced, accurate, compliant, and non-promotional scientific information.

Respond to unsolicited medical information requests in accordance with company policies and local regulations.

Support scientific exchange on approved and pipeline nephrology assets.

2. Medical Strategy Execution & Scientific Society Engagement

Implement country and cluster field medical plans for nephrology across KSA and UAE and translate global and regional objectives into focused local execution.

Develop and execute engagement plans for relevant nephrology scientific societies and professional associations, aligned with medical priorities and identified patient-care gaps.

Build productive scientific partnerships with priority societies and identify opportunities for scientific exchange, education, disease awareness, evidence generation, and patient-pathway improvement.

Represent Medical Affairs at relevant national, regional, and international nephrology congresses and translate key learnings into actionable insights and scientific dissemination.

Support launch excellence, lifecycle management, disease awareness, patient-pathway optimization, and diagnostic initiatives.

3. Medical Education & Insight Generation

Organize and support scientific meetings, advisory boards, symposia, peer-to-peer exchanges, and educational activities.

Identify educational gaps and collaborate with relevant internal stakeholders to address unmet scientific needs.

Systematically collect, analyze, document, and communicate actionable medical insights from healthcare professionals and scientific societies using approved systems and processes.

Identify trends related to the patient journey, treatment patterns, barriers to diagnosis, and unmet medical needs, and provide actionable recommendations to appropriate internal teams.

4. Evidence Generation & Research Support

Identify opportunities for investigator-initiated studies, collaborative research, registries, and real-world evidence generation.

Support feasibility assessments and execution of local evidence-generation initiatives.

Facilitate investigator engagement and scientific collaboration and contribute to publication planning and dissemination activities.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with Medical Managers, Market Access, Commercial, Regulatory Affairs, HEOR, and Patient Advocacy functions while maintaining Medical Affairs independence.

Provide scientific expertise and field-based perspectives to support strategic decision-making.

Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with applicable company policies, local regulations, ethical standards, data-privacy requirements, and pharmacovigilance responsibilities.

Qualifications & Experience

Nationality 

KSA

Education

MD, PharmD, PhD, or master’s degree in life sciences.

Advanced scientific or clinical training preferred.

Experience

3-5+ years of relevant Medical Affairs, MSL, clinical, or pharma field  experience preferred.

Prior nephrology experience strongly preferred.

Experience engaging key opinion leaders, scientific societies, and healthcare institutions in KSA and UAE is advantageous.

Demonstrated understanding of evidence generation and scientific communication.

Skills & Capabilities

Strong scientific and clinical acumen, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex evidence clearly and accurately.

Excellent presentation, communication, active-listening, and scientific-dialogue skills.

Strategic stakeholder and scientific society engagement, including territory planning and prioritization.

Medical insight generation, interpretation, documentation, and translation into actionable recommendations.

Project management, execution excellence, ownership, and timely follow-through.

Effective cross-functional collaboration while maintaining appropriate Medical Affairs independence and scientific integrity.

Sound understanding and consistent application of Medical Affairs compliance, ethical, data-privacy, and pharmacovigilance requirements.

Strong digital capabilities, including effective use of approved CRM and Medical Affairs systems, virtual and hybrid scientific engagement, omnichannel communication, digital content, data and analytics, and approved AI-enabled tools, with appropriate human review and governance.

Ability and willingness to spend approximately 80% of working time in the field, including extensive travel across KSA and UAE and occasional regional or international travel as required.

Proficiency in English and Arabic.
