Radiology Software Verification Co-Op

POSITION PURPOSE

The Engineering Co-op will support software verification of power injector devices within a regulated Radiology R&D environment. Working with Verification & Validation (V&V), Software Engineering, Quality, and cross-functional partners, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience with manual and automated testing, power injector workflows, verification documentation, test automation, and medical device design controls.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

• Collaborate with software engineers to develop software tests and scripts that interact with and perform actions on power injector devices;

• Develop an understanding of power injector workflows and use cases;

• Interpret high-level test scenarios and convert them into actionable test steps for execution;

• Automate test steps to achieve intended testing objectives;

• Collaborate with Product Verification & Validation teams to understand testing requirements and objectives;

• Participate in the review of test script designs and communicate the design approach used for specific workflows;

• Assist with activities required to meet project deliverables outlined in Design and Development Plans and Design Control Procedures;

• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures for medical device development, including ISO 13485 and IEC 62304 requirements;

• Perform critical analysis of technical situations, identify problems, and work with cross-functional teams to develop solutions;

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate challenges, opportunities, solutions, and results related to medical device R&D activities.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline;

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

• Ability to collaborate effectively with supervisors, mentors, peers, and internal stakeholders;

• Strong written and verbal communication skills;

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred:

• Ability to troubleshoot and make informed decisions based on knowledge and experience;

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment;

• Strong technical writing skills that can be easily understood by multiple audiences, including testers, auditors, and peers;

• Ability to work on-site in an office environment 100% of the time;

• Experience using Python for scripting, test automation, data processing, results analysis, or report generation;

• Familiarity with Squish for graphical user interface test automation or exposure to a comparable automated testing framework;

• Familiarity with software defect-tracking, test-management, requirements-management, configuration-management, or version-control tools;

• General awareness of medical device regulations, quality systems, design controls, and software verification and validation processes.

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate of approximately between $24.00 to $45.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. (if relevant).
