Postdoctoral Fellow in Flow electrochemistry F/M (saclay, FR)
About this opportunity
We are an international and independent pharmaceutical group with a human scale, governed by a Foundation. Our unique model is our pride but, above all, it enables us to fully serve our vocation: “Committed to therapeutic progress for the benefit of patients”.
A global leader in cardiology today, we have chosen to become a focused and innovative player in oncology by 2030, by targeting hard-to-treat cancers and dedicating more than 70% of our R&D budget to them. This is a challenge we are pursuing alongside the development of our generic business to ensure access to quality healthcare for all, at a lower cost.
Who are we? 22,000 passionate employees of more than 50 nationalities, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit. Every day, we move forward with and for patients, with and for our teams, driven by the desire to care, to dare, to develop, and to commit ourselves to being useful to those who need it.
Come and experience our commitment, and help us bring it to life #MovedByYou

The Mission
Your work will focus on two strategic pillars: driving synthetic excellence and building an automated, data-driven research platform. You will support medicinal chemistry teams in the synthesis of target molecules, metabolites, and late-stage functionalization (LSF). Simultaneously, you will play a leading role in developing an AI-enabled flow electro(photo)chemistry platform, using data-driven approaches to transform how we optimize reactions and generate scientific knowledge.
Main Responsibilities
Implement cutting-edge electrochemical methodologies to address complex synthetic challenges.
Support Medicinal Chemistry projects through electrochemical transformations in both flow and batch modes.
Deploy benchtop in-line NMR analysis for real-time reaction monitoring and process control.
Establish and manage an AI-enabled, automated flow electro(photo)chemistry platform.
Ensure rigorous data management and communicate results effectively across multidisciplinary and international teams.
Required Skills and Experience
Educational Background: PhD in Organic Chemistry with a clear specialization in flow electrochemistry.
Demonstrated experience in organic and flow electrochemistry, complemented by up-to-date knowledge of photochemical transformations.
Proficiency in data-driven reaction optimization, including Bayesian Optimization and Design-of-Experiments such as Latin Hypercube Sampling.
Experience with laboratory automation, instrument control, and hardware–software integration. Programming skills in Python and familiarity with Git and AI-assisted coding tools are strong assets.
Ability to work independently, strong problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset suited for an international R&D environment.
Communication: Excellent scientific English (written and oral).
We are committed to equal opportunity and the development of talent in all its diversity. We value experience as much as the desire to commit daily to being useful to therapeutic progress for the benefit of patients. If you recognize yourself in this offer and these few lines, take this opportunity to meet us.

How this role compares
Computed from every other active Drug Discovery & Preclinical Research role in our database, not just this employer's listings.
We currently track 140 comparable Intern/Fellow/Postdoc Drug Discovery & Preclinical Research roles across 34 biopharma companies.
Salary context
52 of 140 peers report a salary range (USD, annualized)
Peers share this role's job function and a matching or adjacent seniority level -- not necessarily the same therapeutic area or country.

Seniority mix
140 of 140 peers have a known seniority level
Therapeutic area mix
21 of 140 peers have a known therapeutic area; the rest are genuinely unlabeled, not hidden
Similar opportunities
The closest matches from our peer group, ranked by how similar they are, not how well you'd qualify for them -- treat this as market context, not a guaranteed shortlist; a weak match is labeled as one below.

How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
