Through our Oncology and Hematology pipeline, we are advancing innovative therapies with the ambition of transforming outcomes for patients and shaping the future of cancer care.
We are seeking a Pipeline Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Medical Affairs team in Belgium. The MSL is a field-based scientific expert who serves as a key medical partner to healthcare professionals, clinical investigators, and scientific experts. In this role, you will facilitate scientific exchange, support clinical research activities, and help advance the understanding of AbbVie's investigational and marketed therapies through non-promotional, evidence-based interactions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain trusted scientific relationships with clinical investigators, healthcare professionals, and key external experts in Oncology and Hematology.
Support the initiation, conduct, oversight, and follow-up of AbbVie-sponsored Phase I-III clinical trials in partnership with Clinical Site Monitoring and Medical Affairs teams.
Facilitate scientific discussions related to AbbVie's investigational products and pipeline assets in a compliant and non-promotional manner.
Serve as a scientific resource for investigators and healthcare professionals by responding to medical and scientific inquiries.
Provide scientific and technical support to clinical investigators participating in AbbVie-sponsored research.
Support investigator-initiated study (IIS) concepts and facilitate interactions between investigators and local and global medical teams.
Deliver scientific presentations on disease areas, clinical research, and pipeline compounds.
Identify and engage with emerging and established scientific experts to support research collaborations, advisory boards, educational initiatives, and scientific exchanges.
Gather and communicate actionable medical insights from the field, including emerging scientific trends, clinical practice developments, and competitive research activities.
Identify opportunities for research and development collaborations with key scientific institutions and investigators.
Attend and represent AbbVie at national and international scientific congresses and medical meetings.
Support named-patient and compassionate-use requests where appropriate and in line with local regulations.
Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, and AbbVie policies.
Qualifications
Advanced scientific degree preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent). Candidates with a relevant life sciences degree and significant experience will also be considered.
Experience in Medical Affairs, clinical research, scientific exchange, or a related pharmaceutical environment.
Strong understanding of clinical research, drug development, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience within Oncology and/or Hematology is an advantage.
Knowledge of clinical trial processes, GCP principles, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific and clinical information to a variety of audiences.
Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment while maintaining scientific credibility and integrity.
Fluent in English, French and Dutch.
Willingness to travel regularly within Belgium.

How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
