About this opportunity

Department: Medical & Regulatory, Novo Nordisk Malaysia

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Your impact begins here

As Medical Scientific Liaison, you will be the scientific expert in the field for our Cardiometabolic portfolio in Malaysia. You will turn medical affairs strategy into meaningful engagement with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals (HCPs), sharing evidence, building advocacy and raising disease awareness. The insights you bring back will shape how our teams support HCPs – and how people living with cardiometabolic diseases are cared for in real life, today.

What you’ll bring

You are a medical or scientific professional who enjoys translating evidence into conversations that change practice. You will bring:

A graduate or postgraduate medical degree, preferably in Pharmacy. PhD, PharmD and master’s degree will also be considered.

Up to 3 years of experience in a medical department in the pharmaceutical industry or in a similar role. Early-career candidates are welcome to apply.

The ability to turn complex scientific data into clear, engaging presentations and discussions for HCP audiences, including as a CME speaker.

Strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to engage experts as partners, inside and outside the organisation.

Sound judgement and integrity, with a clear understanding of why compliance, confidentiality and timely safety reporting matter.

Curiosity, flexibility and the drive to thrive in a field-based role that includes regular travel.

Useful, but not essential:

Experience in cardiometabolic therapy areas such as diabetes or obesity.

Experience with KOL engagement, medical education or investigator-sponsored and real-world evidence studies.

What you’ll do

You will own the execution of the local medical affairs and field medical affairs strategy, with a strong focus on external KOL engagement and advocacy, while acting as a trusted scientific resource for colleagues.

Build and execute KOL engagement and HCP interaction plans, including individual engagement plans and 1:1 meetings with KOLs on the national KOL list, to develop short-, medium- and long-term advocacy and enhance disease awareness.

Speak at CMEs in Malaysia, drive content and agenda for local medical education activities, brief and train speakers, and review presentations to ensure full compliance with internal approval procedures.

Act as the local scientific resource and “trouble-shooter” for internal and external stakeholders: answer medical inquiries and serve as liaison for investigator-sponsored trials and real-world evidence studies.

Gather medical insights from HCPs and share them with cross-functional teams, using closed-loop learning to refine the medical omnichannel approach and support pre-launch and launch activities.

Support commercial colleagues through joint field work, HCP scientific interactions and sales training delivered in line with the training calendar.

Protect patient safety and quality: report all adverse events on time, screen local scientific journals for relevant safety information, document customer contacts and report monthly on key Medical Excellence metrics.

Who you’ll work with

You will join the Medical & Regulatory department in Malaysia, a key function that enables the business strategy through effective execution in Medical Affairs and Regulatory. The team ensures regulatory compliance for new products and product amendments, safeguards patient safety and maintains our licence to operate.

You will report directly to the Medical Scientific Liaison Manager and share monthly engagement and KOL reports with the Medical Advisor. Internally, you will work closely with sales, marketing, safety and other in-field and commercial colleagues, sharing what you learn from customers so engagement stays consistent and valuable. Externally, your closest partners will be KOLs, HCPs and investigators across Malaysia.

Around 80-90% of your time will be spent in the field, where your conversations help turn insights into joint actions and keep the work moving forward.

What you can expect here

This is a full-time, permanent position where you are trusted to own your area and make your voice heard. You will build new skills across scientific communication, customer engagement and cross-functional collaboration, working with both medical and commercial teams. You will be encouraged to stay curious, try new approaches to customer engagement and learn from the world outside Novo Nordisk – and you will be supported to perform at your best while doing it.

Start now

Your impact begins today. If you are ready to bring science to life for HCPs and help create progress for people living with cardiometabolic diseases in Malaysia, apply for the Medical Scientific Liaison role by 26 October 2026.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
