Immunology Medical Affairs Field Medical (MSL) Summer Intern – Job Description
At J&J Innovative Medicine, we aspire to develop breakthrough treatments to transform the future of health, discovering new pathways and modalities to be in front of diseases and find cures. Inspired by patients, we apply rigorous science with compassion to confidently address the serious health problems of today and develop the potential medicines of tomorrow. The Medical Affairs Division of J&J Innovative Medicine provides practical, industry-specific scientific and analytical experience.
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for an Immunology Medical Affairs Field Medical (MSL) Summer Intern located in Horsham, PA (hybrid). This position will be part of the US Immunology Dermatology Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team within Immunology Medical Affairs. The internship runs from mid-May through late August 2027.
The Field Medical Intern will report to a Senior Medical Science Liaison and work closely with the MSL Field Director, the Dermatology MSL team, and key Medical Affairs partners, including Medical Directors, Scientific Communications, and Learning Excellence. The intern will gain a firsthand view of how field medical teams translate clinical data into compliant scientific exchange, generate insights that shape medical strategy, and partner across the organization.
Responsibilities
Scientific resource development: Support the MSL team in building and updating internal scientific summaries, disease-state reference guides, and data compendia across psoriasis, psoriatic disease, and other immunology areas (all materials subject to Medical Affairs review processes).
Congress planning and intelligence: Help organize pre-congress planning (session and poster tracking) and synthesize post-congress scientific highlights and competitive landscape summaries for the MSL team.
Insights analysis: Assist with aggregating and thematically analyzing field medical insights to identify trends and knowledge gaps that inform Medical Affairs strategy.
Literature surveillance: Conduct structured PubMed and literature database searches and summarize newly published data relevant to immunology and dermatology.
Stakeholder and territory analytics: Support opinion leader mapping and engagement analytics using Excel and data visualization tools to help MSLs prioritize scientific engagement.
AI-enabled field efficiency: Help develop, test, and document Microsoft Copilot/GenAI prompts, templates, and use cases for MSL workflows (e.g., pre-call planning, post-congress summaries), in alignment with J&J AI and compliance policies.
Training and onboarding: Contribute to MSL onboarding and training materials such as quick-reference guides, data cheat sheets, and knowledge checks.
Field medical exposure: Participate in MSL team meetings and regional calls and learn the foundations of compliant scientific exchange, including Medical Affairs SOPs, the medical information request process, and health care compliance guidelines.
Capstone project: Own a defined summer project from scoping through delivery and present outcomes and recommendations to Immunology Medical Affairs leadership at the end of the internship.
Intern program engagement: Participate in Horsham-based intern programming, including Medical Affairs 101 sessions, leadership networking, and intern community events.
Eligibility Criteria
Enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing graduate study in PharmD, PhD, MD, MPH, or another master’s program in a science-related field; exceptional undergraduate candidates pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., Biochemistry/Biology/Chemistry) who have completed two or three years of coursework will also be considered

How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
