About this opportunity

Job Purpose

The Head of Disease Area (DA), Oncology Medical is a key leadership role responsible for building, developing, and leading a DA team within Japan Oncology Medical. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across all medical activities within the assigned disease area, including oversight of Product Medical Leads, Medical Advisors, and MSL functions.

The disease areas include Haematology, Gastrointestinal, Gynecology, Targeted Lung Cancer, and B7-H3.

Key objectives include:

• Develop and execute a DA medical strategy aligned with global and regional priorities

• Lead integrated evidence generation and planning in close collaboration with Regulatory, Development, and Health Outcomes partners

• Drive excellence in scientific engagement with key external experts and stakeholders

• Ensure strong medical governance and compliance oversight across all DA-related activities

• Demonstrate leadership in science, innovation, technology, and organizational culture, while fostering a high-performing team environment

Key Responsibilities

• Accountable for development and execution of the DA Medical Strategy in partnership with Global and Regional Medical Affairs

• Lead and develop high-performing DA medical teams, including Product Medical Leads, Medical Advisors and MSLs

• Drive high-quality external scientific engagement with key stakeholders

• Provide strategic medical input into lifecycle management, launches and post-launch activities

• Ensure compliance with GSK governance, JPMA codes, MHLW regulations and GCP requirements

• Act as a leader within the Japan Oncology Medical Leadership Team

• Deep understanding of pharmaceutical governance and compliance in Japan

・経験/Experience:

• Significant experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry

• Demonstrated leadership of Medical Affairs teams or functions

• Strong experience in Oncology therapeutic areas

• Experience supporting Oncology product launches and evidence generation activities

• Solid understanding of the Japanese healthcare environment and market access considerations

・学位/資格/語学力 Education/Certification/Language:

• MD, PhD or equivalent advanced scientific degree

• Fluency in Japanese and English
