About the job:

Within Sanofi, the Procurement function is a powerhouse maximizing savings to fund the company’s future growth. The Chief Procurement Officer is reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, member of the Sanofi executive committee. The Procurement organization is divided into five Domains (Manufacturing & Supply, Marketing & Sales, Professional Services, Scientific & Medical and Digital) leveraging Global Procurement Operations and the Procurement Center of Excellence & Transformation.  The yearly spend is around 15B€ with a special focus on Procurement excellence, Supplier Diversity and Sustainability. Closely collaborating with Finance, Business Operations and Business Units, Procurement is instrumental in achieving cost efficiency and savings. Procurement plays a critical role in optimizing Business Operational Impact with a focus on driving simplification, efficiency, and productivity. It forges strategic partnerships with suppliers, prioritizing innovation and data driven solutions.

As Global Category Buyer, Best Cost Countries , you will be pivotal in developing, evolving, and executing strategic sourcing strategies for raw materials, contributing directly to our manufacturing and supply chain excellence. Due to one of the strongest launch product pipeline in the pharma industry, you will spearhead innovation & seamless collaboration with strategic partners to ensure supply security, speed to market, right cost base and manufacturability both for commercial and pre-launch activities.

Main responsibilities:

Develop innovative sub-category strategies that have measurable benefit for Sanofi

Negotiate with Best Cost Country suppliers and deliver savings based on anticipation and consolidation of all business needs

Drive major transversal category initiatives to build up state-of-the-art practices and innovation in sourcing

Leverage both generative and predictive Artificial Intelligence in sourcing, scenario and result augmentation

Ensure procurement technical excellence such as TCO, SRM, Market Intelligence, Risk Management, Innovation, Digital, CSR, HSE, Compliance, Quality at Global Level

Lead Global Business Reviews with preferred suppliers to ensure ambition and execution on both sides.

Design, negotiate & implement complex Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and contract negotiations with global suppliers

Lead Phase-3 CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) activities ensuring regulatory compliance and quality standards required during the drug development process.

Oversee Raw Materials procurement across all domains including Small Molecules and Large Molecules (biologics)

Lead dual sourcing processes to mitigate supply risks, ensure business continuity, and strengthen supplier resilience across all raw material categories.

Scope:

Directly impact a €24 billion company revenue and support over 18 product launches across various modalities (mammalian, microbiological, gene therapy, vaccines) over the next 5 years

Lead minimum €40 million spend (2024 figures), targeting 10% net savings across

Govern key account management for strategic suppliers managing relationships

About you:

 

Experience: Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management, for Raw Materials in R&D or in Manufacturing, specifically in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.

Qualifications: Supplier landscape know-how & demonstrated track record of achieving significant cost savings

Soft Skills/ Technical skills: Confident and capable of interacting with key stakeholders and suppliers. Strong understanding of raw materials procurement value chain from R&D up to LCM, their supply chain dynamics and industry trends. Good knowledge of Raw Materials supplier landscapes along with their respective capabilities. Assertive, high-level communicator, good organizational skills, excellent presentation skills, Team player with excellent interpersonal sensitivity. Experienced and confident in managing complex and undefined business situations in a multi-cultural environment. Influential management, ability to convince and persuade others regarding appropriate solutions. Strong negotiation and contract management skills with the ability to lead complex supplier relationships. High sense of Ethics, Business integrity and compliance in doing business  

Education: Minimum University degree from an accredited College or University. Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is a plus. Procurement certifications are plus.

Language: Excellent command of English is a must.
