The Position
Job description
We are recruiting a Senior Fullstack UX/UI Researcher & Designer to serve as a pivotal member of our Applied AI function. This is a high-impact Senior Individual Contributor (IC) role designed for an elite practitioner who prefers building and executing over administrative management. By intentionally merging deep user research and high-fidelity UI design into a single "fullstack" discipline, you will solve the unique friction points created by non-deterministic AI outputs. In an environment where AI behavior is fluid, the ability to unify discovery and delivery is essential. Your work, ranging from embedded enterprise chat to real-time generative UI streams, will be the primary engine for establishing user trust, ensuring that unpredictable machine learning data is transformed into intuitive, systemic, and reliable human experiences. This role represents a critical evolution in Roche’s digital mission, bridging the gap between raw algorithmic power and meaningful user value.
Description of the area
At Roche Digital Technology, we are advancing the boundaries of Applied AI. As part of our strategic initiatives, we are enabling high-value AI (with a strong focus on Generative AI and agentic AI) through fit-for-purpose platforms, services and applications. The Applied AI Engineering Team is tasked with building innovative AI applications, GenAI agents, and agentic foundations. We operate in small agile teams (e.g., 9 members) powered by advanced coding agents (like Claude Code) to develop and ship solutions faster than ever before.
Job Responsibilities
UX Research & User Advocacy: Conduct user research to understand target users, develop personas, and ensure that our interfaces are optimized for user needs. Actively engage with end-users to understand their workflows and translate business needs into intuitive design concepts. Perform usability tests to iterate on design concepts, integrating user feedback for continuous improvements. Design and test complex workflows and conversational interactions, observing how users react to dynamic, non-deterministic system outputs.
Systemic UI & Conversation Design: Focus on enhancing interaction with AI-driven features by crafting user experiences that are conversational, responsive, and human-like. Shift from designing static, predictable layouts to creating flexible, dynamic interfaces that can gracefully handle unpredictable data, varying confidence intervals, and real-time LLM streams. Develop innovative visualizations to represent outputs from AI models, allowing users to easily understand and interact with complex information. Apply a strong aesthetic sense to build interfaces that foster user trust, utilizing enterprise design systems to maintain visual consistency across all touchpoints.
Wireframing and Prototyping: Design wireframes, user flows, and prototypes for innovative AI-driven applications, focusing on both desktop and mobile experiences.
Accessibility and Usability: Ensure that all designed interfaces are accessible, inclusive, and provide a seamless user experience. Apply best practices to accommodate diverse user needs.
Qualifications
Hold a degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction or related fields.

Research Autonomy: 3–5+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in User Research, Usability Testing, or Product Design Research, with a proven ability to own projects from a brief to final stakeholder presentation.
AI Integration Experience: Demonstrated experience designing interfaces that incorporate Large Language Models (LLMs) and classical Machine Learning (e.g., conversational assistants and data exploration tools).
Information Architecture: Experience developing user journey maps, sitemaps, and wireframes that inform AI-driven user experiences.
Must-have:
Be able to conduct an end-to-end journey from ideation to prototype and testing:
Research Skills: Strong user research skills, including conducting interviews, usability testing, and A/B testing to validate designs.
Design Tools: Proficiency in Figma for creating wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. Design system knowledge.
Prototyping and Testing: Ability to create interactive prototypes and gather user feedback through testing.

How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
