Director, APAC, Regional Market Access, Immunology for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

The Regional Market Access Director for the AP region, reporting to the AP Therapeutic Area Market Access Lead is accountable for delivering and implementing Market Access strategy for a portfolio of products across different stages of development, within a given disease area.

The individual works closely with Regional Pricing in building positive relationships and effective collaboration with Global Market Access to shape the global pricing and access strategies, including integrated evidence generation plans and pricing policies that meet the needs of the region.

The Regional Market Access Director takes a lead role in co-creating a compelling global value proposition and collaborates with AP operating company leaders to ensure delivery of a range of value tools that meet the needs of highly challenging reimbursement/pricing processes across a diverse region with complex and differing needs.

This person must understand and develop insights around key payer needs of countries ranging from highly developed and sophisticated markets, middle income countries to resource constrained emerging markets, building tailored solutions across market types. Able to master this complexity and develop strategies that will drive our business, the Regional Market Access Director will be accountable for achieving and sustaining timely, optimal pricing and reimbursement for the disease area portfolio.

Therapy Area Responsibilities:

Shape global strategies via engagement with Global Market Access & represent “one AP voice”:

• Role model effective collaboration ensuring AP has a strong active contribution to Global Extended Market Access Team and other key forums, such as the Global Commercial teams in collaboration with peer regional leaders in commercial and medical

• Develop a deep understanding of diverse and complex market access and reimbursement processes across the region and effectively educate senior global MA colleagues on evolution of systems and consequences for our business strategies

• Work with Business Development to provide timely, strategic advice in deal evaluations when needed

• Play a proactive leadership role in providing AP Market Access input into key evidence generation plans, including clinical trial design, working with Market Access leaders in major markets to ensure clear, consolidated recommendations are presented

• Contribute to and shape the development of global pricing policies in collaboration with the Regional Pricing Lead, providing recommendations to senior regional and global management on an optimal strategy that balances access for patients with key business goals

• Work alongside Regional Pricing Lead, Global Pricing Lead and Global MA lead as a core member of “PRIT1”, the senior management forum for escalation of pricing applications from countries that fall outside of policy, taking fact-based, equitable, Credo-based decisions for our business, and involving senior leaders as needed

• Build and implement innovative access model frameworks that secure pricing and reimbursement across countries

• Take accountability for launch readiness by deploying the right skills and proficiencies to deliver all needed tools, including health economic models, evidence, value messages, to countries across the region.

Lead Market Access regional portfolio, disease area strategy development ensuring strategic alignment across countries:

• Taking a broad, strategic leadership role with a strong contribution to the creation of the overall disease area strategy with key cross-functional partners (commercial and medical leads)

• Hold accountability for managing full disease area market access budget and develop a culture of financial management excellence and control. Ensures transparency and availability of budget and resource information for appropriate personnel

• Participate in business review processes, presenting with clarity market access and pricing strategic topics to senior leaders including Regional (e.g. APLT) and Global Leadership

Evaluate strategy execution and performance, recommend corrective actions to achieve market leading performance and competitiveness in access and pricing:

• Work closely with senior regional cross-functional partners to ensure the right TA investment decision proposals to APLT around evidence generation strategies, bringing a clear perspective on the best methodological approach to achieve market access business objectives

• Role model a collaboration mentality across functions in the regional team and with Local Operating Company Market Access Teams.

• Conduct regular country visits, engaging with OpCo Market Access and Pricing leads as well as relevant cross-functional partners

Shape and develop policy positions for the region by connecting with external bodies:

• Work in developing policy positions of key importance to market access in areas of interest

Qualifications

The successful candidate preferably has extensive pharmaceutical background and has demonstrated a regional mind-set with the ability to assimilate sophisticated science and data quickly.

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degree in a market access-related field is highly desirable

• A minimum of 8 years of progressive market access/pricing experience is required with a consistent record of exceptional cross-functional leadership

• A deep and consolidated technical knowledge of all aspects of market access and of payer processes across countries, in particular, Asia-Pacific

• Broad experience encompassing market access roles. Experience of leading market access for launch products at regional or OpCo level is preferred.

• A track record of effectively managing people in matrix organizations and of achieving results through other leaders

• Experience with R&D programs and the development of commercial and evidence generation strategy is preferred

• Must exhibit behaviors aligned to the J&J Global Leadership Profile including but not limited to integrity-credo based actions, collaboration and partnership, sense of urgency, results-driven and people development.

• This position requires up to 50% travel.
