The Position

Custom Software Developer (Lead IT Expert) - RDT Artificial Intelligence

Roche Digital Technology (RDT) is where innovation meets purpose. As a global team at the heart of Roche, we are a community of business-minded technologists committed to help shape tomorrow’s digital future of healthcare. Our mission is to power Roche through cutting-edge digital technologies, harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence, data, and scalable tech innovations. Driven by purpose and passion, we’re building a future where digital is a core strength across all of Roche, enabling smarter ways of working, unlocking human potential, and driving breakthroughs that truly matter for millions of patients around the world.

At Roche, we offer a hybrid work model that combines flexibility with in-person collaboration. For now, we require our employees to be in our offices on average two days per week. The specific office days may vary depending on business needs, such as workshops, conferences, town halls, team meetings, and other collaborative events.

The AI Platforms Experience team is responsible for orchestrating seamless adoption journeys and optimizing the end-to-end user experience across Roche's AI Tech Offering, including agentic platforms. We focus on bridging the gap between platform capabilities and business impact through user research, an intuitive unified AI interface, production-ready blueprints, and hands-on consultancy services. Working closely with product owners, enterprise architects, security, compliance, and enterprise-wide business and developer communities, our mission is to make underlying AI infrastructure invisible, human-centered, and easy to adopt at scale.

The opportunity

Joining the AI Platforms Experience team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping developer experience and driving the enterprise-wide adoption of our AI offerings. You will drive our platform’s experience and lead the delivery of official reference architectures and reusable blueprints. Your role bridges complex underlying AI/ML and agentic  technologies with real-world business value - leading technical consultancies, mentoring engineering communities, and establishing high standards for software delivery, quality, and compliance across Roche.

What You'll Do

Scope & Content Leadership: Set the strategic technical direction for our user experience, enablement platforms, and user adoption journeys for AI offerings across the enterprise.

Blueprints & Reference Architectures: Author production-ready blueprints, starter kits, and unified platform interface components that abstract infrastructure complexity and accelerate AI solution delivery.

Impact & Adoption Strategy: Translate real-world field insights and developer feedback into structured inputs for the core platform engineering roadmap to drive active value creation and adoption.

Quality, Compliance & Security: Embed responsible AI guardrails, security best practices, and GxP validation compliance into reusable platform accelerators and developer workflows.

Stakeholder Alignment & Community Evangelism: Partner with cross-functional leaders across Product, Security, Quality, and Business domains to foster collaboration and technical community engagement.

Developer Community of Practice & Excellence: Drive developer community engagement, establish best practices, standardize software delivery frameworks, and cultivate technical leadership across teams.

Asset Creation & Modularity: Identify opportunities for modular enablement frameworks and the creation of reusable assets.

Strategic Business Partnering: Promote the AI Tech Offering (aITO) actively to drive adoption and alignment across enterprise teams.

Who you are:

Continuous learning posture adapted to rapid technical shifts, with a strong dedication to knowledge sharing and technical leadership.

Platform-first mindset focused on understanding the technical teams building on platforms to design exceptional developer experiences, alongside the ability to comfortably educate and engage non-technical audiences across different management levels.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
