Lead Software Engineer (Enterprise Architecture)
At Bayer, we are committed to transparency, equal pay for equal work or work of equal value, and objective reward practices in line with EU and local regulations. The minimum monthly gross compensation for this role is 25 760 PLN, with final pay determined based on objective factors such as experience, qualifications, scope of responsibility, and internal alignment.
This position is eligible for variable pay components, such as performance‑based bonuses, awarded in accordance with the applicable employee group, role scope, and compensation structure.

Lead Software Engineer!
Join the Enterprise Enablement platform and take ownership of the design and evolution of a scalable platform supporting internal processes in the organization. We are looking for someone who has defined enterprise-wide architecture strategy, governance frameworks, technology standards, and multi-year roadmaps across multiple business domains.
Success in this role is measured not only by software delivery, but also by defining enterprise-wide architectural standards, influencing technology strategy, and driving long-term transformation initiatives across the organization.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical leadership & architecture
Own and drive architecture governance across multiple business domains, engineering teams, and enterprise applications.
Define long-term technology strategy and multi-year transformation roadmaps for a global organization.
Establish enterprise architecture standards, principles, and governance processes across the organization
You will play a key role in shaping technology strategy and promoting the adoption of modern engineering practices
Design scalable, secure, and maintainable systems (microservices, APIs, integrations
Make and guide key architectural decisions across teams
Identify and mitigate technical risks in complex systems
Platform & delivery excellence
Shape CI/CD, DevOps, and engineering best practices
Support and improve system integrations across the organization
Ensure high standards in code quality, testing, and maintainability
Stakeholder & cross-team collaboration
Work with senior business and engineering stakeholders
Translate technical concepts into business impact
Facilitate collaboration across teams and domains
Mentorship & culture
Coach engineers and support their growth
Promote knowledge sharing and engineering best practices
WHO YOU ARE:
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
12+ years of experience in IT, including architecture, software development, and technology leadership
7+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, or a comparable strategic architecture role
Demonstrated experience in Enterprise Architecture, Architecture Governance, and Technology Strategy
Experience developing Enterprise Roadmaps and aligning technology initiatives with business objectives
Strong knowledge of Business Capability Mapping and Application Portfolio Management
Experience leading Architecture Review Boards and defining architectural standards, principles, and governance processes
Strong understanding of software architecture, integration patterns, microservices, and API design
In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud)
Strong understanding of software development methodologies, DevOps, and CI/CD practices
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business language
Strong leadership and influencing skills across cross-functional teams
Preferred
Extensive experience with containerization and orchestrations tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
TOGAF certification or equivalent Enterprise Architecture framework experience preferred
Expertise in a specific area such as machine learning, cybersecurity, or mobile development
Deep understanding of DevOps practices and tools
Proven ability to lead and mentor junior developers
Strong understanding of software security principles and best practices
