Your Role

As a Country Study Start-Up Manager, you will lead end-to-end study start-up activities across multiple clinical trials, sites, and therapeutic areas, ensuring timely site activation and study delivery. You will serve as a key partner to global stakeholders and drive regulatory, contracting, and operational start-up excellence across assigned studies.

Lead end-to-end study start-up activities from regulatory submission through site activation and handover to CRA.

Act as the primary point of contact between Merck and investigative sites throughout the start-up phase.

Manage EC/IRB submissions, regulatory approvals, essential document collection, and site readiness activities to ensure timely activation.

Lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs), amendments, and site budgets, ensuring contractual, budgetary, and regulatory compliance requirements are met within agreed timelines and negotiation guidelines.

Proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate operational, regulatory, and contracting risks impacting study timelines.

Partner with global, regional, and local stakeholders to drive efficient study start-up execution, maintain audit-ready documentation, and achieve site activation milestones.

Who you are:

Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related field. (master’s degree is preferred)

5+ years of hands-on Study Start-Up experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

Strong English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with global stakeholders on a daily basis.

Solid experience in regulatory submissions, site activation, contract negotiation, and budget management.

Proven ability to manage multiple clinical sites (typically 8-10+) and study concurrently.

Experience supporting diverse therapeutic areas and complex clinical trial portfolios.

Strong project management, risk management, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience across various therapeutic areas is highly preferred

Additional experience in audit readiness, inspection support, and broader clinical project management is highly valued.

Experience working in a global matrix organization.
