Role Available in Location: Barnard Castle

Education required: Politics, English, Marketing or similar

Other requirements: You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK (United Kingdom) or ROI ( Republic of Ireland ) University for the duration of your placement.

If you have already graduated with a bachelor’s degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme .

Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English

Expected Start date: July 2027

Duration: 1 year (approximately)

Salary:   A salary of £26,400 plus a bonus.

Workplace Arrangements: Full time on site required

Overview of the Department

Barnard Castle is a key secondary site for GSK with  a large number of  New Products coming through development at site. We manufacture and supply a huge range of different pharmaceutical products from Sterile Products (Syringes and Vials) to Liquid Inhalations and Dermatological.

Key Placement Learnings

W ork as a member of the continuous improvement team (known as the GPS - GSK Production System team) who use industry standard LEAN / 6-Sigma methodologies to fix problems and make improvements throughout the business.

Every department on the site is a potential customer, but our key relationships are with our Operations, Laboratory, Engineering and Supply Chain colleagues .

S upport day to day operations and communications in a key manufacturing site

W orking in a safe and compliant manner.

Exposure to this high volume and fast paced environment will build a great understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing and business improvement to secure and sustain the site strategy for the future.
