Position Title: Senior Scientist, Bioanalysis

Location: Boston, MA

Job Type: On-site

General Summary: Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist in Bioanalysis to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, executing, and interpreting complex bioanalytical experiments to support our innovative small molecule research and development programs. This position requires a deep understanding of LC-MS and related sample preparation techniques, a strong ability to manage multiple projects, and a commitment to advancing scientific discovery in alignment with Vertex’s mission.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and execute technically challenging LC-MS-based bioanalytical experiments to support small molecule drug discovery and development.

Analyze and interpret complex, multidimensional data to generate clear hypotheses and guide experimental directions.

Develop and optimize bioanalytical methods to address critical research questions.

Manage multiple projects effectively, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and timelines.

Conduct advanced troubleshooting and implement innovative solutions to experimental challenges.

Stay abreast of relevant scientific literature and integrate new concepts and methodologies into research strategies.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success and contribute to the development of novel therapeutics.

Prepare and review technical reports, publications, and regulatory documentation as required.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant post-doctoral experience; or

Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; or

Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.

Strong expertise in bioanalytical techniques, including but not limited to LC-MS/MS, automation, and other relevant methodologies.

Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent problem-solving skills and a track record of innovative method development.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Pay Range:

$192,000 - $288,000

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
