Key responsibilities
The Cloud and Data Engineer will be responsible for the development, implementation, operation, maintenance, and support of the data, middleware, and IT infrastructure used by R&D units across Novo Nordisk, both on-premises and in the Cloud.
Responsible for Cloud service and research solutions in NNRCC (Novo Nordisk Research Centre China)
Responsible for Cloud DevOps activities and projects
Responsible for stakeholder and vendor management
Keep improving IT Quality and Security in daily work
Participate in projects and solutions as IT Subject Matter Expertise (SME)
Knowledge sharing and end user support
Main job tasks
Operate and Maintain Infrastructure systems and data pipelines
Monitor and ensure the stability, performance, and availability of server infrastructure supporting NNRCC org.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, including patch management and system updates, to ensure optimal functionality.
Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues independently, escalating complex problems when necessary.
Implement and maintain backup solutions to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity.
Provide Technical Support and Guidance
Offer advanced technical support to users and stakeholders, addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to server infrastructure and monitoring services.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide expertise and recommendations for improvements.
Mentor and coach junior colleagues, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team capabilities.
Develop and deliver training materials to support technology users in understanding and utilizing IT systems effectively.
Automate and Optimize IT Processes
Design and implement scripts to automate routine tasks, improving efficiency and reducing manual workload.
Develop basic computer programs to address complex systems software configuration and enhancement needs.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to streamline operations.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards while optimizing IT processes.
Proactively communicate and guide LoB and external stakeholders to build up IT compliance mindset and daily working processes
Through hands-on daily work to drive NNRCC IT compliance to high level and keep at satisfactory outcome
Responsible for stakeholder and vendor management
Execute service contracts with AWS, MS Azure and relevant technology vendors on agreed KPIs to ensure service levels are met or exceeded
Responsible for improving IT quality and IT security
Ensure IT compliance with internal and external regulation requirements
Implement IT security solutions based on corporate guidance
Responsible for following Novo Nordisk way of working
Proactively share best practice with the global network of onsite lab support team in ADI
Align with ADI Tech Delivery and other ADI colleagues to be responsible for IT technical mentoring, coaching and consulting for Global Research solutions
Be proactive in understanding and using new technologies and AI tools; implement to offer innovative, cost effective, agile solutions
Share knowledge, train and support end users in efficient ways
Qualifications
B.Sc./M.Scs. or equivalent in Computer Science or relevant Natural Science.
Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with a strong understanding of cloud-based data services and tools.
Proficiency in data platforms such as DataBricks.
Strong understanding and experience with DevOps principles, including automation, infrastructure/configuration as code, CI/CD, and related practices.
Strong understanding of Release Engineering practices with ability to orchestrate CI/CD release trains across multiple agile teams, standardizing build, test, and deployment pipelines to ensure consistent versioning, predictable delivery, and seamless coordination in complex, regulated environments
Experience with Security and Vulnerability Assessment: Integrate SAST, SCA, and container security tools into CI/CD pipelines to enforce compliance and proactively remediate risks.
Experience with scientific software, such as R, Python etc.
Experience in data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing, with proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, and big data technologies.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, with experience in building scalable data pipelines and data processing workflows.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams as well as works independently on project of moderate complexity & with limited instruction for activities of high complexity.
Fluent in both spoken and written English & Chinese
Good English communication skills
