As a Senior Expert in Rapid Prototyping, you will play a pivotal role in transforming how drug discovery is accelerated by designing and deploying advanced generative artificial intelligence and agentic systems. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and deploy generative artificial intelligence solutions supporting drug discovery and biomedical research workflowsBuild rapid prototypes and scalable applications combining foundation models, retrieval systems, and workflow orchestrationDevelop production-ready large language model applications with robust context handling, tool integration, and monitoringTranslate emerging generative artificial intelligence and agentic approaches into practical, reusable solutionsApply engineering best practices including testing, benchmarking, version control, and lifecycle managementCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful artificial intelligence solutions aligned with research prioritiesIdentify opportunities to enhance scientist productivity using artificial intelligence assistants and workflow automationContribute to architecture, scalability, security, and reliability of artificial intelligence-powered systemsShare best practices, reusable components, and technical guidance across teams working on artificial intelligence applicationsEvaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and technologies to advance generative artificial intelligence capabilitiesEssential Requirements5+ years of experience building and deploying artificial intelligence or machine learning systems in production2+ years of hands-on experience designing large language model applications including retrieval augmented generation and tool integrationStrong proficiency in Python and experience developing scalable services, application programming interfaces, and reusable librariesExperience delivering end-to-end artificial intelligence solutions including prompt design, evaluation, and monitoringFamiliarity with generative artificial intelligence frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or similar ecosystemsExperience applying modern software engineering practices including testing, code reviews, version control, and continuous integrationUnderstanding of evaluation metrics for generative artificial intelligence systems including quality, reliability, and cost considerationsAwareness of security, governance, and responsible artificial intelligence practices in enterprise environmentsDesirable RequirementsExperience in drug discovery, computational biology, or biomedical research environmentsPublications, patents, or open-source contributions in artificial intelligence or computational sciencesCommitment to Diversity and Inclusion:Novartis is committed to building an outstanding, inclusive work environment and diverse teams' representative of the patients and communities we serve.Accessibility and accommodationNovartis is committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodation to individuals with disabilities.
