About this opportunity

The Role:

Joining Moderna means advancing mRNA science to transform medicine. Work with exceptional global teams on a broad pipeline and build a career that makes a real difference for patients.

Moderna is establishing a leading research, development, and manufacturing facility at Harwell to support onshore mRNA vaccine production for respiratory diseases in the UK.

This long term investment will create skilled jobs and strengthen collaboration with academic, NHS, and government partners. We welcome experts ready to help expand access to life saving vaccines.

At Moderna's Harwell manufacturing facility, you will play a hands-on role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials that supports our mRNA manufacturing operations around the clock. Working as a Warehouse Shift Specialist on a fixed-term contract, reporting to the Warehouse and Logistics Operations Lead, you will take ownership of goods receipt, inventory accuracy, material handling, and internal deliveries within a highly regulated GMP/GDP environment. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to manufacturing readiness, strengthen warehouse operations, and explore how digital tools and emerging technologies can improve logistics efficiency and material traceability.

Here's What You'll Do:

Manage inbound deliveries and goods receipt: Receive incoming materials and deliveries, carefully checking accompanying paperwork and documentation against purchase orders to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with site requirements. Proactively obtain missing documentation and resolve discrepancies to ensure materials are correctly received and available for manufacturing operations.

Maintain accurate quality documentation: Upload, organise, and maintain material receipt and delivery documentation within Moderna's Quality Management Systems (QMS), ensuring records are complete, accurate, traceable, and aligned with applicable GMP/GDP requirements.

Support manufacturing through material picking and verification: Pick, check, and prepare warehouse materials in accordance with manufacturing requirements, ensuring the correct items and quantities are available to support production schedules and continuous manufacturing operations.

Ensure compliant material handling and labelling: Learn, apply, and consistently follow Moderna's internal procedures for material identification, labelling, storage, and handling. Maintain high standards of accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout warehouse activities.

Coordinate internal material deliveries: Independently organise and execute material deliveries to internal customers, working closely with manufacturing and other site functions to ensure materials reach their required destinations efficiently and in line with operational priorities.

Maintain inventory accuracy through SAP: Complete daily SAP transactions associated with goods movements, material handling, and warehouse operations. Ensure inventory records remain accurate and up to date, supporting reliable material visibility and traceability across the site.

Perform daily cycle counts: Conduct routine warehouse cycle counts, verifying physical inventory against SAP records and identifying discrepancies that require investigation or correction. Support robust inventory control practices to maintain stock accuracy and operational readiness.

Manage expired and segregated materials: Identify and efficiently segregate expired materials in accordance with site procedures, ensuring appropriate physical controls and accurate inventory records are maintained within SAP.

Support wider logistics operations: Collaborate with colleagues across Logistics to assist with shipments, deliveries, and other material movement activities, providing flexible operational support to meet changing manufacturing and business requirements.

Maintain training and procedural compliance: Complete required departmental training and develop a thorough understanding of warehouse processes, quality expectations, and safe working practices. Apply this knowledge consistently to support compliant and efficient daily operations.

Contribute to digital and operational improvements: Identify practical opportunities to improve warehouse workflows, documentation accuracy, inventory visibility, and material handling efficiency. Build familiarity with digital tools such as SAP, Smartsheet, and approved emerging technologies, including potential Generative AI-enabled applications for logistics knowledge management and process improvement.

Demonstrate ownership and collaboration: Work independently on assigned warehouse activities while maintaining strong relationships with Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality, and other internal stakeholders. Bring a proactive, customer-focused approach to resolving issues, managing priorities, and ensuring materials are available when needed.

Support continuous manufacturing operations: Work within the site's established fixed-shift pattern to provide reliable logistics support to manufacturing activities operating on a 24/7 basis. Remain flexible in responding to operational requirements and changing priorities.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
