Transformation Discovery Co-Op
In this co‑op role within Cell Biology, Plant Biotechnology at Bayer Crop Science, you will help improve the transformation process of major row crops by applying cell and developmental biology principles to decipher underlying transformation mechanisms and develop enhanced protocols for the transformation pipeline.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
Apply defined scientific principles to solve complex scientific problems;
Design, conduct, and interpret experiments to improve the transformation pipeline;
Organize, document, and report research outcomes in a timely manner;
Develop improved Agrobacterium‑based transformation protocols for major row crops;
Collaborate with system improvement scientists to innovate and develop transformation systems;
Collaborate with production team members to enable technology transfer;
Demonstrate commitment to safety and adhere to safety protocols and best practices.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Qualifications and Competencies:
Currently enrolled in or has completed a Master’s or PhD degree program;
Degree specialization in Plant Biology, Developmental Biology, Plant Physiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field;
Plant tissue culture and transformation experience;
Stays current with new scientific and technological developments;
Ability to learn and apply new concepts and techniques;
Good record keeping with strong attention to detail;
Troubleshooting experience;
Good communication skills;
Ability to work effectively in diverse team environments.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $22.75 to $47.75. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant). This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
