At Boehringer Ingelheim, we're looking for an experienced SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) Functional/Technical Expert to play a critical role in supporting and advancing our U.S. payroll capabilities within an SAP S/4HANA environment.

In this highly visible position, you will serve as the primary technical bridge between IT, HR, and Payroll Operations, ensuring accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll processing for our U.S. workforce. You will leverage your expertise in SAP payroll configuration, payroll processing, integrations, data replication, and troubleshooting to resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement across our payroll landscape.

The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on experience with SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) and a strong understanding of U.S. payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements. You will be responsible for analyzing and resolving payroll calculation and system issues, supporting enhancements, and ensuring seamless data flow between Employee Central and Payroll.

Compensation Data

The base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $222,000.   The position may be eligible for a role specific discretionary bonus, relocation, and/or other compensation elements.  We continuously review market data and may adjust salary ranges as needed in the future.  Actual compensation will be based on job-related factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications, and other factors permitted by law. Duties & Responsibilities

Act as a U.S. Payroll Subject Matter Expert for SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll (ECP).

Configure and maintain payroll schemas, wage types, tax models (BSI SaaS integration) and payroll drivers to meet business and regulatory requirements.

Ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including FLSA, taxation, and year-end processing (W-2, tax reconciliation).

Partner with Payroll Operations to support regular technical transports, payroll runs, previews, corrections, post-payroll reconciliation, third party remittance, FI Posting via IDocs

Own and support Employee Central to Employee Central Payroll data replication and creation of interfaces from ECP to several vendors

Troubleshoot replication issues using monitoring tools (e.g., replication logs, error messages, consistency checks).

Collaborate with EC functional teams to resolve upstream data issues impacting payroll accuracy.

Lead testing cycles (Unit/UAT/Parallel) with defect resolution

Creating functional documentation/workbooks for programs,interfaces and customizations

Requirements

Associate degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field with a minimum of 11 years experience; or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or MIS, or related field with minimum 9 years of experience; or a Master degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field with minimum 7 years of experience; or relevant Business or IT experience of minimum of 11 years.

Hands-on experience with SAP U.S. Payroll (Employee Central Payroll EDP and or SAP Human Capital Management HCM payroll) is required.

Experience with U.S. 401k and Retirement Saving Plan design and configuration.

Strong understanding of SAP Payroll schemas, Payroll Control Center (PCC), wage types, tax models, BADI implementation, U.S. payroll taxation and compliance, End-to-end payroll processing in SAP

Proven experience supporting payroll in a SuccessFactors EC + ECP.

Ability to diagnose and resolve complex payroll and replication issues.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience with technical tools that support agile methodologies such as JIRA, Confluence and ServiceNow.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

Must be 18 years of age or older.
