DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Sr. Director, GCC Data & AI Delivery.
Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Job Overview
The Sr. Director, GCC Data & AI Delivery is a senior leadership role responsible for building and scaling Data & AI delivery capabilities within the Bangalore Global Capability Center (GCC). This role will lead the execution of enterprise data, analytics, and AI programs that enable data‑driven decision making and support business transformation across DePuy Synthes.
The position offers a high‑impact opportunity to shape a modern data ecosystem, drive innovation through advanced analytics and AI solutions, and lead global delivery teams to create measurable business value.
This is a greenfield, build-first role. The GCC is not a support function t is the technical engine behind the company's AI-ready data future. The Sr. Director owns the India capability end-to-end, with real decision rights over how we build, who we hire, and how we deliver, with a direct line to the CDAO.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery & Execution
Lead the delivery of enterprise Data & AI programs, aligning initiatives with organizational strategy and business priorities
Own the delivery of data products, platforms, and business solutions in partnership with product, analytics, and engineering teams
Drive planning and execution of strategic Data & AI initiatives, including oversight of timelines, approvals, and communication plans
Own the full delivery lifecycle of agentic AI and data product pipelines, including the semantic layer, ontology, knowledge graph, and MLOps, ensuring they are production-ready and trusted by the business
Partner with the US-based Chief Data & AI Architect to ensure all India builds conform to the target-state architecture and platform standards before delivery begins
Manage the onshore-offshore delivery model, keeping the seam between US strategy and India execution seamless dependencies, SLAs, and delivery health across all pods
Team Leadership & Talent
Build and scale a high-performing GCC Data & AI organization, including talent development, coaching, and succession planning
Lead cross-functional teams in a matrix environment and provide mentoring, coaching, and leadership development
Build a culture of technical ownership and AI-first thinking this is a capability center, not an execution annex talent here holds real decision rights over how things are built
Governance & Standards
Establish and implement data governance, quality, and standards to ensure consistency, security, and accessibility of enterprise data
Manage operational aspects of the organization, including budget, performance, compliance, and vendor management
Partner with the US-based Director, Data Governance, Privacy & Regulatory to execute MDM, reference data, and data quality as the operational arm of the single source of trust
Ensure all AI and ML models deployed from India conform to the Responsible AI and Model Risk framework set by the US AI lead no model reaches production without passing governance review
Stakeholder Partnership
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data and AI solutions
Communicate strategic initiatives, progress, and outcomes to senior leadership, ensuring alignment and visibility
Serve as the primary India-side partner to the CDAO and all US functional leads the Architect, AI & Agentic Data Experience Leader, Governance, and Data Science & AI acting as the delivery conduit that turns US direction into India execution

Qualifications
Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field required
Master’s degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) preferred
Experience and Skills Required:
Generally requires 10–12 years of relevant experience in data, analytics, AI, or technology delivery, including leadership responsibility
Proven experience leading large‑scale Data & AI or data platform delivery programs in global or matrixed organizations
Strong expertise in enterprise data architecture, data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML solutions
Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives
Experience establishing data governance, quality, and lifecycle management practices
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills at senior levels
Experience managing budgets, operational performance, and compliance in a global delivery model
Proven experience building or scaling a GCC or captive offshore delivery center from early stage, not just managing steady-state teams
Hands-on technical fluency across modern data stack: cloud-native platforms, data lakehouse architecture, semantic and ontology layers, MLOps pipelines, and agentic AI frameworks
Experience standing up MDM, master data, and reference data platforms as the foundation of a governed, trusted data environment
Strong operating model experience: running onshore-offshore pod structures, managing SLAs across geographies, and owning the delivery seam between strategy and execution
Preferred:
Experience in healthcare, MedTech, or other regulated industries
Experience establishing or scaling Global Capability Centers (GCCs)
Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience delivering advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions at scale
Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and regulatory frameworks
Experience driving digital transformation initiatives
Hands-on experience with agentic AI platforms, LLM-based data products, knowledge graph, and ontology design
Familiarity with semantic layer tools and data product frameworks (Apache Atlas, Collibra, or equivalent)
Experience partnering with a US-based functional leadership team in a dual-lead model, where India owns the build and the US owns the standards
