Position Summary

You will lead the Site Engineering function in India, delivering safe, compliant and reliable facility operations. You will work closely with production, quality, EHS and project teams to maintain and improve site infrastructure. We value practical leadership, clear decision making and coaching skills. Job Title - Site Engineering Head

Job Purpose

The incumbent is accountable for effectively establishing and managing engineering function at Nashik Site, including the upkeep of Assets and facilities of the plant, including the development & implementation of Capital Projects, Maintenance strategy, Technology upgradations, Equipment Efficiency improvements, adherence to compliances & building people capability in order to achieve site KPI’s.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibility is to be accountable for all Engineering activities on-site, including Capital Projects, Utilities and Facilities operations, maintenance and Production Engineering.

Leadership activities:-

Leads and manages Engineering activities to ensure plant availability, improvement of performance and efficiencies, compliance and to achieve targets relating to Sustainability, Quality, EHS & GPS objectives.

Member of Site Leadership Team, working with the team to set a direction for the Site,  in alignment with GSK requirements.

To lead improvement in the ways of working including business change

To establish and Manage the Engineering Strategy, aligned to Site Strategy and role, including management of Assets of entire Plant, Capital projects planning & implementation, Assessments, planned upgradation / replacements / modifications of Equipment / Plant in cost-effective ways and ensuring adherence to latest Engineering, EHS and cGMP requirements, so as to ensure upkeep of Plant facility.

Enhances the application of performance management across all areas of engineering aligned to the Site and Supply Chain performance targets.

Responsible for the Site Master plan and subsequent Capital Plan which ensures the facility is compliant, and invests for Service, Value, Quality, Safety and sustainability.

Supports and promotes a culture of safe working and facilitate environment friendly processes in the site with relation to the job role.

​ Champion the Site sustainability programme covering energy consumption and water management.

Budgeting and Control:-

Preparation and monitoring of Factory budgets, specifically pertaining to the Engineering function in the following areas:

Capital Expenditure

Repair & Maintenance

Utilities (Electricity, Water, Furnace Oil, Diesel)

Seek expert help when required (from PSC Engineering, contractors, consultants etc.)

Escalate significant issues to central engineering.

Ensures Global Engineering Standards are in place and in use against an agreed implementation plan to enhance compliance within engineering.

Compliance with statutory regulations with regard to:-

Maharashtra Pollution Control Board

Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH)

Electrical Inspector

Controller of Explosives

Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation

Weights and Measures

People Development

Develops solid technical capability in all areas of engineering across the Site.

Ensures this is based on the business needs, technical capability and people

development plans

Assesses competency and resource requirements for the Function and ensure these are adequately addressed.

Conducts structured People Development Plans – Assigning specific responsibilities and targets, Periodic reviews of the performance & development needs.

Acts as an owner

Fully accountable for all engineering activities across Site including Facility and Utility management, Capital Management and Production.

Direct Engineering Head Count of 60 staff and Indirect Contract Management Staff related to Engineering activities

Opex Budget- Approx 30 Cr

Capex budget – Approx 30 Cr

Asset Value-Approx 535 Cr

Risk Management

Ensure that all risks for department are identified, assessed and mitigated in

accordance with risk management principles

Scope of Accountability

People engagement

Attendance management.

Weekly Schedule Delivery (CTP).

Encourage people to raise Gemba Kaizen.

Effectively utilization of GPS tools as day-to-day ways of working.

MM Audit completion & closure of deviations in 25 days.

Completion of safety incidence investigation in 10 days.

No open ZAP> 90 days pending for closure.

Proactive identification of risk.

Knowledge/ Education / Experience Required

A. Educational Background

Minimum Level of Education - B.E /BTech

Area of Specialisation -

Engineering, Business or Pharma orientated specialization would be added advantage

Accountable for specialized complex areas requiring technical understanding, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Preferred Level of Education - B.E /BTech/ME

B. Job-Related Experience

Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience required - 15+ yrs of working experience in a Pharmaceutical environment.

Should have experience in multiple discipline field for development of new policy and strategic operation.
