Job Description

Gilead is seeking a Senior Product Manager, Direct-to-Patient (DTP) Marketing, Oncology to develop and execute patient-focused marketing initiatives for our oncology portfolio. This individual will play a critical role in building innovative, data-driven campaigns that educate, engage, and empower patients, caregivers, and communities while supporting key brand objectives.

Reporting to the Director, DTP/DTC Marketing, this role will lead the development and execution of patient marketing initiatives across multiple channels, partnering closely with Oncology HCP Promo, NPP, and aHCP Marketing teams, Public Affairs, including PR and Advocacy, Medical Affairs, Market Research, Legal, Regulatory, Commercial Operations, and external agency partners. This position combines strategic thinking with operational excellence to help deliver impactful patient experiences across the oncology care continuum.

In this role, you will:

Develop and execute key components of the patient marketing strategy for oncology brands, ensuring alignment with overall brand objectives and commercial priorities.

Lead the development of integrated, multi-channel patient campaigns including digital media, websites, social media, patient education, advocacy partnerships, field materials, and emerging engagement channels.

Drive implementation of patient promotional communication strategies that build disease awareness, facilitate patient activation, and support treatment adoption.

Define campaign objectives, KPIs, measurement frameworks, and reporting processes to evaluate program performance and optimize execution.

Lead market research initiatives and leverage patient insights, behavioral data, media trends, and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for enhanced patient engagement.

Partner with patient advocacy key stakeholders to ensure patient-centricity is embedded throughout marketing initiatives.

Manage agency relationships and ensure delivery of high-quality creative, media, and strategic outputs that meet objectives, timelines, and budget requirements.

Gain approval for marketing materials through internal review processes, including management review and Medical-Legal-Regulatory (MLR) review, and secure final production.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Oncology Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Market Research, Analytics, Market Access, and other stakeholders to drive integrated execution.

Provide strategic and tactical input into launch planning activities, patient segmentation, patient journey development, congress strategy, and patient support initiatives.

Analyze complex business opportunities and patient engagement trends, providing recommendations to improve marketing effectiveness and customer experience.

Manage marketing budgets, project timelines, and resource allocation to maximize impact and efficiency.

Ensure all promotional activities are compliant with applicable legal, regulatory, medical, and business compliance requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

Experience developing and executing integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns targeting patients.

Strong expertise in patient and consumer communication planning, patient activation, and customer engagement strategy.

Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans.

Experience supporting launch planning and commercialization efforts for specialty pharmaceutical products.

Proven ability to execute complex initiatives that require extensive cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder alignment.

Strong analytical capabilities with experience leveraging multiple data sources to inform marketing decisions and optimize performance.

Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and their impact on promotional material development.

Ability to effectively manage external agency partners, including advertising, media, and patient support vendors.

Proven budget management and financial stewardship capabilities.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience,  OR Master’s Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology marketing experience with increasing responsibility.

Experience in oncology marketing, oncology patient engagement, or oncology commercialization.

Demonstrated success developing patient and consumer focused promotional campaigns.

Experience supporting product launches or major indication launches within specialty therapeutics.

Strong understanding of patient journeys, digital marketing, media strategy, and omnichannel engagement approaches.

MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Demonstrated excellence in stakeholder management, collaboration, and influence across matrixed organizations.

Ability to work both as a team and thought-partner as well as independently.

The salary range for this position is: $169,320.00 - $219,120.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
