Role Type: Permanent position

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Supply Chain Procurement will lead all Procurement-related activities for a strategic network transformation project, converting a critical supplier selection into a fully contracted, operationally ready and governable external-manufacturing relationship while protecting uninterrupted product supply.

The role owns the Procurement workstream from final contract negotiation through supplier onboarding, implementation, ramp-up and stabilization. It will coordinate the transition strategy for a complex product and supplier portfolio and govern the commercial framework associated with a strategic external-manufacturing relationship. The Senior Manager will work daily across the selected external manufacturer, component suppliers and internal functions to resolve commercial dependencies, secure capacity and continuity protections, deliver cost-reduction commitments and maintain disciplined program governance.

This is an execution-intensive leadership role requiring sustained continuity, long-term ownership and sound judgement across sensitive commercial information, complex regulated manufacturing transitions and an enduring business transformation. The role reports to the Director, Orthopaedics Supply Chain Procurement and operates as the primary Procurement interface within the project core team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Contract Completion & Commercial Framework

Lead completion and execution of the external-manufacturing agreement following supplier selection, partnering with Legal, Finance, Quality, Supply Chain and business stakeholders.

Translate the awarded proposal into clear contractual commitments covering pricing, cost transparency, inflation governance, payment terms, capital and tooling, non-recurring expense, implementation support and change-control mechanisms.

Embed service, quality, capacity, business-continuity, validation, regulatory, inventory, phase-in/phase-out and transition protections into the agreement and associated schedules.

Maintain a structured register of open commercial issues, decisions, assumptions, obligations and approvals through contract signature and implementation.

Supplier Onboarding & External-Manufacturing Readiness

Lead Procurement onboarding of the selected external manufacturer, including supplier setup, confidentiality and compliance requirements, purchasing enablement, commercial master data and alignment of operating interfaces.

Confirm the future-state commercial and transactional model, including material ownership, purchase-order flows, sterilization and logistics assumptions, inventory handling, customs or import/export dependencies and finished-goods purchasing arrangements.

Partner with Quality, Regulatory, Technical Operations, Planning, IT/Systems and the relevant implementation teams to ensure commercial dependencies are reflected in the integrated implementation plan.

Ensure supplier readiness actions, evidence and commitments are tracked to closure before key transfer and ramp-up decisions.

Component-Supplier Transition Strategy

Establish and execute the transition strategy for all raw materials and component suppliers supporting the transferred portfolio.

Define, by supplier and material family, the appropriate future model, including directed-buy, pure-buy, rationalization or selected-supplier ownership.

Coordinate supplier communication, due diligence, commercial negotiation, onboarding and cutover requirements while protecting continuity of supply.

Maintain product-to-supplier and dependency visibility, identify critical materials and single-source exposures, and drive mitigation plans with the relevant functional owners.

Transfer Execution, Ramp-Up & Stabilization

Represent Procurement in the project PMO and technical-transfer governance, maintaining clear milestones, owners, dependencies, risks and escalation paths.

Support detailed transfer planning across equipment and know-how transfer, validation, material readiness, pre-build, ramp-down, ramp-up, capacity, ERP/APS integration and operational stabilization.

Coordinate commercial actions required to enable execution, including purchase commitments, supplier-funded activities, capital and NRE controls, material orders, tooling decisions and transition support.

Lead Procurement issue resolution during implementation and remain accountable beyond award through stable supply, contractual compliance and handover into the future operating model.

Cost, Value Creation & Financial Governance

Govern the awarded cost model and business-case assumptions in partnership with Finance, ensuring transparent baselines, approvals and change control.

Convert supplier cost-reduction commitments into a sequenced roadmap with accountable owners, milestones, validation and realization tracking.

Drive opportunities across material sourcing, supplier rationalization, vertical integration, automation, process optimization, logistics, inventory and commercial restructuring.

Monitor run cost, project execution cost, working capital, capital, tooling, NRE, claims and other commercial exposures; proactively escalate variance and recovery actions.

Capacity, Business Continuity & Risk

Secure and govern capacity commitments aligned with base demand, growth scenarios, forecast variability and future scalability requirements.

Ensure robust business-continuity provisions address critical equipment, infrastructure, controlled-environment and special-process readiness, logistics, material supply, workforce, systems and financial resilience.

Maintain the Procurement contribution to the program risk register and lead mitigation of supplier, commercial, financial and continuity risks.

Coordinate contingency, alternate-source, safety-stock, pre-build and recovery strategies where justified, with clear triggers and decision rights.

Supplier Performance & Executive Governance

Establish governance for the selected manufacturer and critical component suppliers, including operating reviews, executive business reviews, scorecards, action tracking and escalation protocols.

Define measurable expectations for service, quality, delivery, capacity, cost, innovation, responsiveness and transfer execution.

Build a strategic relationship that supports near-term implementation success and longer-term business growth, new-product introduction, innovation and continuous improvement.

Provide concise, fact-based updates and recommendations to project leadership and Procurement leadership, clearly distinguishing confirmed facts, working assumptions, risks and decisions required.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Compliance

Act as the single Procurement point of accountability across the project core team and selected supplier interface.

Partner closely with PMO, Planning, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, Technical Operations, IT/Systems, Finance, Legal, Commercial and relevant implementation teams.

Maintain complete sourcing, contracting, approval, governance and supplier records in line with applicable Procurement and quality processes.

Lead through ambiguity and competing priorities, create alignment across functions and geographies, and escalate material issues early with recommended paths forward.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
