We are seeking a Senior Fire Systems & Life Safety Specialist to monitor, maintain, and improve fire protection systems and life safety protocols across our US IOPS organization. In this role, you will oversee fire protection projects and programs, conduct fire system assessments, respond to life safety incidents, ensure NFPA regulatory compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and enhance fire protection and life safety measures. Discover your role:
Implement new fire protection technologies and evolving industry standards for fire and life-safety detection and response, partnering with Security Operations, Facilities Maintenance, and Facilities Engineering to integrate them into operations
Oversee third-party fire protection contractors and consultants, and manage procurement cycles for fire systems equipment, including budget oversight, purchase orders, and invoice approvals
Conduct fire system audits and life safety risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements
Ensure regulatory and compliance alignment for pharma/manufacturing environments, including Class 1, Division 1 hazardous area and GMP requirements
Coordinate with local fire code officials, the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and other third parties on plan reviews, inspections, and permit processes
Provide recommendations on critical initiatives such as long-term fire system upgrades, NFPA compliance audits, and life safety infrastructure improvements
Support crisis management and emergency response programs, including fire emergency preparedness, incident response workflows, mass notification, evacuation procedures, and business continuity readiness
Interpret and apply NFPA and local fire codes to ensure systems meet regulatory and operational requirements in hazardous and explosive environments
Review, approve, and maintain fire system commissioning reports, configuration baselines, inspection records, and compliance documentation
This role requires:
Bachelors degree in fire protection, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or a related technical field, and 5+ years of relevant fire systems experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in pharmaceutical or manufacturing/GMP environments, including hazardous area classifications (Class 1, Division 1)
Demonstrated experience with addressable fire alarm systems, clean agent suppression technologies, and Honeywell fire protection platforms, as well as wet and dry suppression systems
Proven experience working with the AHJ on plan reviews, inspections, and permitting, and managing fire protection equipment procurement and vendor trade-off analyses
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects from system design through commissioning and maintenance, with knowledge of fire system integration with Building Management Systems (BMS)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including training delivery and executive-level reporting on life safety compliance
Certifications such as NICET Fire Alarm Systems, NFPA, or similar recognized industry fire protection certifications preferred; PMP/PgMP or equivalent project experience preferred
Gowning and Physical Requirements:
Full cleanroom attire (examples may include: including laundered undergarments, gown, facemask, hairnet, safety glasses, safety shoes and booties, latex gloves and the use of sanitizing agents during gowning process including IPA)
Ability to remove jewelry, makeup and nail adornments when wearing cleanroom attire
