The position will also develop and implement automation, reporting, and process improvement solutions, including Power BI and responsible adoption of Artificial Intelligence, to improve efficiency, data quality, visibility, and decision-making across Global Clinical Payments. The successful candidate will maintain end-to-end knowledge of clinical payment processes and provide analytical, operational, and customer-centered support to internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

Lead and support study mapping activities from study initiation through closeout by translating protocols, clinical database structures, study budgets, and executed contract terms into accurate data requirements, mapping templates, payment triggers, and system configurations

Assess available EDC data and system behavior to determine appropriate payment triggers; conduct quality testing, troubleshoot mapping or data issues, validate results, and coordinate corrective actions before implementation or closure.

Manage the Study Mapping Request Tracker and coordinate the timely review and resolution of requests submitted by the global Clinical Payments Group (CPG), including EDC uploads, Contract Mapping Template revisions, study mapping changes, and ad-hoc inquiries.

Partner regularly with the Budget Development Team (BDT), R&D Clinical Contracting, and Clinical Development Strategy and Operations (CDSO) to proactively align study budgets and contract language with available data and payment triggers and facilitate discussions and change requests when updates are needed.

Partner with Clinical Study Leadership, R&D Clinical Contracting, Study Forecasting, data management teams, BTS, clinical suppliers, and payment colleagues to communicate requirements, risks, dependencies, progress, and resolution plans.

Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, data models, and analytical solutions that improve operational visibility, identify trends and exceptions, and support data-driven decision-making.

Identify, design, and implement process improvements and automation solutions using available technologies to reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, standardize work, and improve the timeliness and quality of payment operations.

Support the responsible adoption of Artificial Intelligence within Clinical Payments by identifying appropriate use cases, contributing to solution design and testing, documenting controls, and helping integrate approved capabilities into sustainable business processes.

Maintain working knowledge of the end-to-end clinical payment lifecycle, including contract and budget entry, purchasing, invoice processing, payment execution, amendments, issue resolution, and final reconciliation, and provide operational support as business needs require.

Identify and manage payment, data, system, compliance, and financial risks; escalate issues appropriately and develop mitigation strategies, reusable guidance, and best practices across studies and processes.

Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, trackers, decision records, training materials, and knowledge-transfer resources; lead smaller projects and provide guidance to colleagues supporting study mapping and clinical payment activities.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in clinical payments, clinical data management, business systems, financial operations, process improvement, or a similar technical environment is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to interpret clinical study protocols, contract budgets, payment terms, and data structures and translate them into system and reporting requirements.

Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, data-validation, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and associated timelines.

Experience developing reporting, analytics, or automation solutions using Power BI, Power Query, DAX, Microsoft Excel, Power Automate, or comparable tools is preferred.

Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence concepts and experience supporting the evaluation, testing, governance, or adoption of AI-enabled business solutions is preferred.

Experience with clinical trial databases, payment platforms, SAP, and related enterprise systems is preferred.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
