About the role:
Role Description: Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate Storage & Backup operation Engineer who, along with daily systems management tasks, will support Infrastructure Operations, having primary responsibility for activities related to ongoing Enterprise Storage & Backup support, automation, configuration, and operations management. While responsible for ongoing improvement of processes and applying best practices for the environment, the incumbent Sr Associate will work on Storage & Backup related technologies that will be introduced into the Amgen environment containing NetApp, Isilon, Rubrik & Netbackup Technologies.
Please note, this is an on-site role based in Hyderabad.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Support the Operations lead in the support, delivery, and continuous improvement of the technology services
Ensures services are aligned with the key principles of service ownership which includes - meeting the needs of the business, scalability, compliance, reliability, resilience & security
Assist Service Owner and Architect in detailed resource planning for vendors and IT teams based on the prioritized project list
Perform necessary storage & backup infrastructure maintenance in accordance with Dell, NetApp & Rubrik best practices and Company Change Management policies
Contribute to SOP & Runbook Design, Development, and ongoing updates
Contribute to ongoing recommendations and best practices in Business Continuity, Migration, High Availability, Backup, Recovery, and Archiving
Investigate and resolve storage & backup related technical issues. Participate in rotational 24x7 On-Call Support at the SME level and assist/lead Root Cause Analysis reviews
Handling and monitor data replication, using Dell, NetApp & Rubrik replication technologies within strong understanding of RPO/RTO compliance parameters
· Help build AI-agentic solutions and flows to automate manual storage and backup tasks using skills on Powershell, Python, REST APIs and preferably over ServiceNow workflows
· Work directly with users to resolve support issues within product team responsibilities
Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree and 3/3+ years of Information Systems ie. Storage, Backup and/or Java Hosting/Web Hosting/Linux administration & one or more of Ansible, Python, Bash scripting or
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of Information Systems ie. Storage/Backup and/or Java Hosting/Web Hosting/Linux administration & one or more of Ansible, Python, Bash scripting, or
Preferred Domain-specific technical Skills & Experience:
5+ years’ experience with NetApp, DellEMC Isilon and DR/BCM replication technologies
3+ years’ experience in on-prem storage, backup and archiving solutions, and off-premise public cloud backup, archiving, and DR solutions (preferably AWS else Azure)
2-3 years’ experience handling backup/data protection technologies, preferably Rubrik and its replication cluster setup
Demonstrated hands-on experience with installing and managing NetApp and DELL Isilon with local and remote replication using SyncIQ, Snapmirror & Snapvault
Proficiency in Provisioning, Configuring and Administering zero RPO and low RTO for enterprise mission critical applications
Good understanding of S3 protocol, buckets, objects, versioning, lifecycle and object-lock/WORM concepts.
Basic experience in operating access management, ILM policies, including copy placement, retention, replication, and erasure codes
Familiarity with StorageGRID networking: admin/grid/client networks, DNS, load balancers, certificates, firewall ports, and endpoint configurations
Ability to troubleshoot with appropriate storage management tools complex database performance and trend analyzing issues
Good scripting skills with data-driven problem solving and analytical skills
Professional Certifications (preferred):
NCDA (NetApp Certified Data Administrator, ONTAP)
Rubrik Certified System Administrator (RCSA)
Preferred Infrastructure Skills and operations experience:
Demonstrated experience as part of a high-performance team, skilled in persuasion, and negotiation of critical issues, along with a background of solid systems administration processes and procedures
Collaborate with Infrastructure teams and Business Units to build strong solutions that meet the requirements Demonstrated experience with Windows/UNIX/Linux Operating systems
ITIL experience and managing regulated systems within Life Sciences sector is a plus
Working knowledge of Application Server Clustering and HA configurations
Good grasp of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
