About this opportunity

We Are Teva

At Teva Pharmaceuticals, we’re driven by a shared purpose: improving health by developing quality medicines. Within Biologics CMC, our scientists advance innovative biologics and biosimilars by combining rigorous science, modern bioprocessing, and close cross-functional partnership. Join a team where your experiments can influence process design, manufacturing readiness, and the path for important therapies from development to commercialization

Our Team, Your Impact

We are seeking a Scientist to join our Cell Culture Process Development team within Biologics CMC in West Chester, PA. This is a hands-on, lab-based role ideal for a motivated scientist with a strong foundation in mammalian cell culture and a passion for innovation in complex biologics production.

You will design and execute mammalian cell culture studies, translate data into process decisions, and help develop robust, scalable, and manufacturable cell culture processes for therapeutic proteins. The role spans early and late-stage development to support clinical and commercial manufacturing. The role offers meaningful ownership, and exposure to high-throughput bioreactor systems, pilot-scale operations, modern automation and data modeling tools, and collaboration across the biologics CMC organization.

How You’ll Spend Your Day

Design, execute, analyze, and document mammalian cell culture experiments with strong scientific rationale.

Develop and optimize cell culture and harvest process, media, and feeding strategies to improve process performance, robustness, productivity, and product quality.

Operate and troubleshoot mammalian cell culture systems across scales, including shake flasks, high-throughput or automated bioreactors, bench-scale bioreactors, and pilot-scale equipment.

Apply scale-up and scale-down principles to establish representative models and translate process knowledge toward clinical and commercial manufacturing.

Use DOEs, multivariate analysis, data modeling and digital tools to identify critical process relationships and enable data-driven decisions.

Integrate cell culture performance with analytical and product quality data to build mechanistic process understanding and inform control strategies.

Contribute to process characterization, new technology evaluations, facility-fit assessments, as appropriate for program stage.

Partner with Cell Line Development, Purification Process Development, Analytical Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and external collaborators to deliver integrated CMC outcomes.

Communicate conclusions and recommendations through technical reports, protocols, presentations, and regulatory submission content, including IND and BLA sections.

Promote safe laboratory practices, data integrity, high-quality documentation, continuous improvement, and an inclusive team environment.

What Success Looks Like

You deliver well-designed, reproducible studies that answer important development questions and support timely program decisions.

You translate experimental results into clear recommendations for robust, scalable, and manufacturable cell culture processes.

You build trusted partnerships across functions, communicate risks early, and contribute to a culture of scientific rigor, ownership, and continuous learning.

Your Skills and Experience

M.S. or B.S.  in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Cell Biology, or related field with 6+ years or 8+ years of experience respectively.

Strong hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, media/feed development, and bioreactor operations.

Hands-on experience with mammalian suspension cell culture and bioreactor-based process development for recombinant proteins or other biologics.

Demonstrated ability to independently plan experiments, analyze complex data, troubleshoot technical challenges, and draw clear, defensible conclusions.

Working knowledge of cell culture process fundamentals, including growth, metabolism, productivity, product quality, media and feed effects, and scale-dependent process behavior.

Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed, multidisciplinary environment.

Also Good to Have

Experience with CHO cell culture, fed-batch processes, automated or high-throughput bioreactor platforms, and continuous centrifugation.

Experience with process scale-up or scale-down, process characterization, technology transfer, pilot-scale production, or manufacturing support.

Proficiency with statistical applications such as JMP and or SIMCA and practical use of DoE or multivariate analysis.

Experience connecting process data with product quality attributes and using digitalization, automation, data visualization, modeling, PAT, or omics approaches to strengthen process understanding.

Familiarity with cGMP principles, data integrity expectations, and technical or regulatory documentation for biologics development.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
