About this opportunity

Job Title: Medical Advisor

Location: Pancras Square, London

Competitive salary and benefits

Introduction to role:

Are you ready to turn deep scientific insight into measurable progress for patients across the UK and Ireland? Do you want to lead evidence-led, customer-focused engagement that strengthens launch readiness and advances scientific advocacy?

As a Medical Advisor, you will provide high-quality medical and scientific expertise for a defined disease area and relevant pipeline assets. You will translate the country Disease Strategic Plan into an insight-led, measurable medical tactical plan and connected, personalised customer experiences that respond to UK and Ireland healthcare needs. Your work will integrate scientific exchange, evidence generation, medical content and coordinated field and digital engagement to improve patient outcomes.

Based in London with hybrid attendance, you will collaborate closely with healthcare professionals, clinical opinion leaders and specialist centres, while partnering with cross-functional colleagues to transform insights into action. With approved analytics and AI-enabled tools at your disposal, you will accelerate insight generation and personalise engagement, always applying sound scientific judgement, medical review and ethical oversight.

Accountabilities:

Medical Strategy, Insight and Evidence: Lead development, implementation and evaluation of the medical tactical plan aligned to the Disease Strategic Plan and UK/Ireland healthcare needs. Integrate scientific, clinical, patient, customer, pathway, competitive and healthcare-system intelligence to surface unmet needs and evidence gaps, and translate insights into prioritised recommendations that shape tactics, segmentation and resource choices. Contribute to real-world evidence, publications, registries, investigator-initiated research and scientific narratives, using approved analytics and AI-enabled tools to accelerate synthesis and pattern detection with validated sources and outputs.

Customer Experience, Scientific Engagement and Partnerships: Translate customer-experience priorities into coordinated, relevant and measurable scientific engagement for defined HCP and clinical opinion leader segments. Use stakeholder mapping, segmentation, customer analytics, voice-of-customer insight and approved channels to personalise engagement and identify next best medical actions. Build trusted scientific relationships with external experts, professional societies and healthcare-system partners, deliver high-quality medical content and education, and continuously improve customer journeys through timely insight capture.

Pipeline and Launch Readiness: Shape early local medical strategy for pipeline assets, new indications and future launches by integrating UK/Ireland unmet need, patient pathways, evidence requirements and market access considerations into asset plans. Develop scientifically robust clinical narratives, contribute to value propositions within medical governance, and ensure readiness against pre-launch medical milestones.

Cross-functional Delivery and Medical Excellence: Provide strategic medical input and constructive challenge across Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Digital/Ops and field teams while maintaining medical independence. Translate external insight into practical action, align priorities, and elevate the clarity, scientific value and impact of medical contributions.

Governance, Medical Review and Responsible AI: Deliver timely, compliant medical review or certification in line with the ABPI/IPHA Code and internal standards. Ensure activities meet legal, regulatory, pharmacovigilance, privacy, information-security and medical-governance requirements. Use only approved AI tools for permitted purposes, protect personal and confidential information, and apply meaningful human oversight to AI-assisted analyses and content. Provide scientifically robust internal training and respond accurately to medical information and business-critical requests.

Essential Skills/Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences or another relevant scientific discipline.

- Strong understanding of Medical Affairs and the UK and/or Ireland healthcare landscape, including specialised or highly specialised services where relevant.

- Relevant pharmaceutical-industry experience, including substantial Medical Affairs or closely related scientific/clinical experience.

- Track record of contributing to disease strategy and developing and delivering medical tactics across stages of a product lifecycle.

- Evidence of translating complex scientific, customer and healthcare-system insights into prioritised decisions and measurable action.

- Experience contributing to evidence generation, publications, medical education and high-quality scientific exchange.

- Strong cross-functional working across Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Digital/Ops and field teams.

- Working knowledge of the ABPI/IPHA Code, medical review, pharmacovigilance and pharmaceutical medical-governance requirements.

- Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity and make sound prioritisation decisions.

- Customer-experience leadership: starts with the desired customer outcome and uses customer, scientific, competitive and healthcare-system insights to personalise engagement and focus resources on relevance and impact.

- Medical planning and execution: translates the Disease Strategic Plan into a prioritised, measurable and deliverable medical tactical plan.

- Scientific judgement and insight synthesis: translates complex evidence and field intelligence into clear narratives, recommendations and actions.

- Clinical opinion leader engagement: builds trusted scientific relationships and partnerships that deliver customer value and advance scientific advocacy.

- Cross-functional engagement: aligns Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Digital/Ops and field priorities while maintaining medical independence.

- Data, AI and responsible judgement: interprets customer and medical data, uses approved tools, validates sources and outputs, protects privacy and remains accountable for decisions.

- Strong communication, presentation, facilitation and project-leadership skills.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

- Postgraduate scientific, medical, public-health, health-economics, digital health, data or AI qualification.

- Registered physician, pharmacist or other relevant healthcare professional.

- Nominated Signatory or Appropriately Qualified Person status, or willingness and eligibility to attain it.

- Training in customer journey thinking, service design, evidence generation, implementation science or healthcare improvement.

- Rare disease, specialised care or complex healthcare-pathway experience.

- Experience of launch readiness, pipeline planning, market access or healthcare-system improvement.

- Experience using structured account planning, segmentation, coordinated customer journeys or omnichannel engagement.

- Experience leveraging data, advanced analytics or approved AI-enabled platforms to interpret insights and improve customer or healthcare-system outcomes.

- Experience working across UK and Ireland healthcare environments and with regional or global teams.

- Working knowledge of audience segmentation, coordinated customer engagement, approved channels and medical content planning.

- Ability to use workflow mapping, scenario testing and advanced analytics to improve productivity and decision quality in Medical Affairs.

- Service design, pathway mapping or implementation-science capability to support healthcare-system improvement.

- Commercial and market access awareness, with clear understanding of medical accountability and independence.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
