Role Overview

The way insights get made has changed. AI can now do much of the coding, data wrangling and charting that used to fill an analyst’s week. What it cannot do is decide which question matters, what a good answer looks like, and whether the output is actually right.

We are looking for someone who does both halves under regional Commercial Excellence Insights and Analytics Hub, with a market focus on North Asia (Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong). You frame the commercial question and judge the quality of the answer. You also build the whole thing, from raw data to a decision-ready recommendation, with AI as your main tool.

This is an individual contributor role at manager level, focused on Brand Competitiveness Insights, Customer Insights, and Investment & Resourcing Insights.

About the team: The Insight Generation team sits within Commercial Excellence, Insights and Analytics Hub, AP Strategy Organization, JJIM. We help brand, sales and marketing leaders decide where to focus, whom to engage and what is the optimal decision and action.

Key Responsibilities

1. Frame the question

Take ambiguous commercial questions from North Asia markets, why uptake is lagging, which customers to prioritise, whether a campaign or resource shift is working, and turn them into a clear plan: which insights would change a decision, and what data can answer them.

2. Build end-to-end with AI

Use AI to prepare data across sales, customer engagement, market and account sources, and to run exploratory analysis.

Apply statistical and predictive methods where they add value, particularly across launch excellence, sales force effectiveness, brand strategy, and brand growth-driver analysis.

3. Judge quality

Test results against alternative explanations, data artefacts and common analytical traps, and state how confident we should be and why.

4. Deliver decision-ready insights

Turn the same insights into crisp narratives for leadership decisions and commercial organization actions, which today run on PowerPoint.

5. Partner across North Asia

Act as the primary point of contact for North Asia stakeholders; partner with CE, BU, IT, regional and local teams to align market needs with regional strategy.

Hold evidence-based positions with senior stakeholders and turn them into clear decisions and actions.

Raise the team’s way of working by sharing AI workflows, reusable components and templates.

Qualifications

Required

Typically 5+ years in advanced analytics, data science, consulting or a similar role, with insights that changed real business decisions.

Heavy, hands-on use of AI in your own work, not only chat and summaries, but using AI to write and run analysis code, build tools and ship interactive outputs. Experience in agentic workflows is a plus. We will ask you to show examples.

Comfort reading, running and debugging the code AI writes for you, in Python, SQL or R. Experience in prompt, context, and harness engineering is a plus.

Solid statistics and analytical reasoning, enough to catch an analysis that is plausible but wrong (selection bias, confounding, leakage, wrong denominators).

Structured problem solving: you can break a vague business question into hypotheses and an analysis plan.

Clear communication with non-technical and senior audiences, in writing and in person.

A degree in a quantitative field, or equivalent demonstrated rigour.

Preferred

Korean language proficiency is highly preferred.

Pharmaceutical or healthcare commercial data: prescription and sales data, CRM and call activity, customer segmentation, SFE. Hands-on experience in commercial analytics and insights to support launch excellence and brand strategy is highly preferred.

Experience in North Asia markets; therapeutic area knowledge in Oncology or Immunology.

Consulting experience in commercial strategy or analytics.

This role is probably not for you if

Your main strength is hand-building machine learning models and you want to stay in that lane.

You want to build AI or LLM systems themselves. Here AI is a tool we use, not a product we build.

You prefer to hand the build to engineers, or the business conversation to someone else.

What Success Looks Like

By month 3: one validated decision-ready insight delivery with named North Asia commercial users; working knowledge of the main CE data sources; at least one insight used in leadership reporting.

By month 6: two or three use cases, with clear quality and efficiency metrics, and business impact tracked; reusable components or templates the team adopts; able to take a commercial question from framing to product with light director review.

Required Skills:

Preferred Skills:

Advanced Analytics, Compliance Management, Critical Thinking, Data Analysis, Data Privacy Standards, Data Quality, Data Reporting, Data Savvy, Data Science, Data Visualization, Developing Others, Digital Fluency, Give Feedback, Inclusive Leadership, Leadership, Proactive Behavior, Resource Allocation, Strategic Thinking, Team Management

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
