About this opportunity

Lead Data Scientist, Commercialisation AI

Looking to turn data and AI into real commercial impact? Join us to build the solutions shaping how Lundbeck makes commercial decisions.

You will be the technical anchor and hands-on builder for AI/ML solutions that shape commercial decisions at Lundbeck: from forecasting and causal inference to GenAI assistants and agentic workflows. If you like taking a model from prototype to production and working shoulder to shoulder with the people who use it, read on.

You’ll join our newly established Data, Insights and AI team in Global Customer Experience (GCX), helping build and scale advanced analytics, ML and AI across the commercial organisation. As Lead Data Scientist, you’ll design and build end-to-end solutions, including econometric forecasting, causal inference and GenAI systems such as RAG, assistants and agentic workflows, and own them through to production, embedded directly with the domain experts who will use them across global functions and our affiliates around the world.

Your responsibilities will include

Translating commercial questions into data science and ML solutions that ship

Developing  segmentation , targeting, propensity and causal inference models for commercial use cases, for example owning the predictive models behind new market launches and building the segmentation and look-alike models that tell sales representatives which HCPs and institutions to prioritise

Building GenAI applications end to end, including RAG pipelines, assistants, agentic  solutions and workflow automation

Working with siloed,  fragmented or entirely new data

Evaluating models using the right statistical, ML and business metrics, and explaining assumptions,  uncertainty and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders

Designing models with production readiness in mind

Scoping ambiguous commercial problems independently and helping set the standard for how the team approaches decision science and  productionisation

You don’t need to be equally expert in classical data science and GenAI. We’re looking for real depth in one, genuine curiosity for the other and a willingness to build across both.

Your new team

You’ll join GCX’s newly established Data, Insights and AI team, responsible for establishing a new commercialisation intelligence layer and for building competitively differentiating predictive intelligence loops. We stay close to the business to make sure what we build gets used. The team is young enough that you’ll help shape its culture and ways of working. This is a build-from-scratch opportunity, not a seat on an established team.

Your skills and qualifications

We are looking for deep expertise in one or more of the following: statistics, econometrics, forecasting, causal inference, segmentation or applied/commercial ML; model production and MLOps; or GenAI engineering, including LLM applications, RAG and agents.

You will bring

Several years of experience building, deploying or supporting data science, ML, statistical or AI models using real commercial or business data

Strong Python and SQL skills, solid engineering practice including Git, documentation, tested and reusable code, and a strong grasp of model validation,  interpretation and business impact

Experience with predictive models in a commercial or pharmaceutical setting

Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and genuine interest in the commercial problem, not only the model

Comfort with AI-assisted development tooling such as Cursor or GitHub Copilot

An MSc, PhD or equivalent practical experience in statistics, econometrics, data science, mathematics, computer science,  engineering or a related quantitative field

Depending on your strengths, you will also bring depth in several of

Practical MLOps , including CI/CD for models, model registries, experiment tracking and model monitoring

Hands-on GenAI, including LLM applications, embeddings, vector search, retrieval, evaluation, prompt engineering,  agents and workflow solutions

APIs and backend development,  testing and CI/CD

Experience taking analytical and AI solutions into production using modern  MLOps and DataOps practices, including version control, automated testing, deployment and monitoring.

It is an advantage if you bring

A track record of taking classical models or AI applications into production, with strong understanding of reliability, monitoring, versioning, security, access control and maintainability

Experience with LLM evaluation, prompt and version management,  guardrails and observability, and with monitoring quality, latency, reliability and cost

Experience from pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences, commercial  analytics or consumer behavior

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
