About this opportunity

ROLE SUMMARY

Build and operate the production data pipelines that power the Innovation, Data & Analytics team's AI-based workflows, implementing the canonical data model and ensuring reliable, timely, high-quality data for downstream analytics and agentic systems.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Pipeline Build & Production Ownership

Build and maintain data pipelines against the data model and standards defined by the Governance & Compliance team

Own production reliability of the data platform (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake), including monitoring and incident response

Implement the canonical data model in production, including OMOP/HEDIS mappings where applicable

Support agentic workflows with clean, timely, well-structured data

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Partner with the Senior Data Analyst to validate data model and mapping conformance

Partner with the Senior Data Scientist and AI/ML Engineer to ensure pipelines meet the data needs of analytical models and agentic workflows

Flag data quality issues and advise on required solutions

Identify opportunities to improve pipeline performance, cost, and maintainability

Document pipeline architecture and data flows to support governance and audit needs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates strong technical execution and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment, partnering effectively across data science, governance, and engineering functions.

Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field

Experience (6+ years with Bachelor's; 5+ years with Master's) in data engineering, notably in the healthcare/pharma sector

Strong SQL and Python skills

Experience with cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or similar)

Experience designing and orchestrating ETL/ELT pipelines

Healthcare data experience (claims, EHR, HEDIS/OMOP) preferred

Effective English verbal and written communication with flexibility to be clear, consistent, compliant, and appropriate for a variety of settings including scientific/technical, regulatory, and business audiences

Technical:

Anticipates Customer and Market Needs – Knows the data landscape and downstream analytical needs; is dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal customers; always focused on patient safety first.

Acts Decisively – Makes timely and effective engineering decisions; acts with urgency and removes barriers that hinder productivity.

Builds Change-Agile Systems – Designs pipelines and data infrastructure that are flexible and adaptive to evolving business needs.

Strategic and Innovative Thinking – Demonstrates insightful thinking by developing creative approaches to data engineering challenges.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $124,400.00 to $207,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
