Main responsibilities

• Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of HSE strategies and programs that ensure safe working practices and build a proactive safety culture across all Sanofi Japan activities.

• Identify legal obligations and develop strategies to ensure compliance across health, safety, environment, and workers' compensation, keeping management informed of all statutory requirements and industry codes of practice.

• Drive HSE training programs (including Road Safety and Ergonomics) and continuous improvement activities; investigate safety incidents and develop corrective action programs, completing monthly and annual reporting.

• Manage the HSE Management System, including risk assessments, contractor HSE compliance, medical surveillance, accident reporting, and facility audits with follow-up on corrective action plans.

• Lead energy efficiency, recycling, and environmental initiatives to minimize the business's environmental impact and support Sanofi's sustainability commitments.

• Support employee health and wellbeing by managing Medical Room operations and deploying health promotion and wellness programs across the organization.

• Collaborate with the Workplace Experience team, building management, occupational health, and People & Culture to ensure a safe, sustainable, and healthy workplace environment.

About you

Experience: Proven experience in HSE, ideally within a matrix organization in a multinational company.

Skills: Strong research and analytical skills; sound understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements; demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE management systems; coaching and influencing skills at all levels; effective communication and presentation skills; strong problem-solving ability.

Certifications: HSE Professional (衛生管理者) and Infectious Waste Management and Control (特別管理廃棄物(感染性)) certification or license strongly preferred.

Languages: Native-level Japanese and business-level English required (spoken and written).
