About this opportunity

At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections,  where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

Our Global Operations department is the strategic engine that unifies a network of over 9,000 employees to deliver life-saving diagnostic solutions. We are committed to scientific excellence and operational resilience, ensuring our global footprint is optimized to meet the evolving needs of patients. The Strategy team serves as the "architect" of our network, providing the thought leadership and analytical rigor necessary to navigate complex global markets and secure our long-term competitive advantage.

In the role as Global Ops Strategy Lead, you hold a high-impact leadership role responsible for the development and governance of our holistic strategy. Your mandate is almost entirely focused on strategic initiatives - such as long-term capacity planning, footprint optimization, and global investment roadmaps - where you act as a visionary partner to the executive team. In this role, you provide the critical insights that unify our global functions, ensuring that every asset and investment is positioned to drive maximum enterprise value.

The Opportunity

Establishment and maintenance of robust governance frameworks ensure that all footprint decisions, including "Make vs. Buy" and localization transfers, align with our guiding principles.

Development of resilient global strategies involves conducting deep internal and external analyses to inform the long-term direction of the network.

Ownership of the global Long-Term Capacity Planning (LTCP) process allows for the proactive identification of bottlenecks and the scaling of our footprint to meet future demand.

The creation of a 10-year major investment roadmap (CAPEX) secures our asset strategy and ensures sustainable growth across the organization.

Strategic intelligence and benchmarking initiatives provide a consistent fact base, using industry data to support overall strategy development and comparisons.

Leading cross-functional teams across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and R&D facilitates the seamless delivery of high-stakes strategic initiatives.

You establish the governing principles for global investment and footprint management, moving the organization from siloed models to an integrated global network.

Orchestrating senior leadership influence is essential to gain consensus from GOLT and GOLT-1 leaders regarding strategic resource prioritization.

Bridging the gap between commercial strategy and execution capability ensures that GO's feasibility assessments are embedded in the broader corporate strategy.

High-stakes conflict management is central to the role, particularly when balancing competing CAPEX demands between divergent global functions.

Frequent presentations to senior executive forums provide high visibility for the health of our global footprint and investment recommendations.

Serving as a catalyst for capability development involves coaching team members in complex business case development and strategic planning.

You utilize a "Systems Thinking" approach to analyze systemic friction points between Procurement, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.

Designing enterprise-level architectures allows you to transform the organization into a holistic, future-ready global network.

Who You Are

You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering is required; an MBA or equivalent Master’s degree is highly preferred.

You bring 10+ years of progressive leadership experience with deep operational mastery across Procurement, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.

Proven expertise in Enterprise Architecture is required, specifically the ability to move an organization toward a holistic, integrated global model.

You possess strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize large amounts of data into clear, actionable executive messages.

Thought leadership is a core strength, with a proven ability to use industry best practices to develop recommended solutions for the network.

You demonstrate the flexibility to handle non-routine strategic questions and provide support for diverse cross-functional projects.

Authentic and courageous leadership enables you to constructively challenge the status quo and foster an environment of psychological safety.

You are business fluent in English and possess the executive presence required to influence at the highest levels of the organization.

Ready for the next step? We look forward to hearing from you. Apply now to discover this exciting opportunity!

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
