Astellas' Global Capability Centres - Overview

Astellas’ Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are strategically located sites that give Astellas the ability to access talent across various functions in the value chain and to co-locate core capabilities that are currently dispersed. Our three GCCs are located in India, Poland and Mexico.

Working Environment and Location

This is a permanent role based in our Global Capability Centre in Warsaw, Poland and hybrid working with the expectation for some office presence. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office

Purpose and Scope

As an EHS & Sustainability Professional, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery and effective operation of Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) programmes across the business. Reporting to the Head of EHS&S, you will focus on translating established strategies and priorities into practical actions, robust processes, high-quality reporting, and measurable outcomes. This role is operational in nature, requiring strong programme execution, governance, compliance, data management, and stakeholder coordination skills. You will help ensure EHS&S activities are delivered consistently; risks are effectively managed, and reporting and controls remain audit-ready and fit for purpose.

Role and Responsibilities

Support delivery of EHS&S strategy, priorities and annual objectives through effective planning, coordination and execution of assigned programmes.

Manage day-to-day delivery of EHS&S initiatives across sustainability, health and safety, compliance, risk management, data governance and employee engagement.

Maintain EHS&S governance processes, ensuring accurate documentation, internal controls, quality checks and audit-ready records.

Coordinate collection, validation, analysis and reporting of EHS&S and sustainability data to support decision-making and regulatory disclosures. Apply relevant regulations, standards and internal policies, translating requirements into practical actions within assigned workstreams.

Identify, assess and escalate EHS&S risks and opportunities, supporting implementation of appropriate mitigation measures.

Promote a positive safety culture through communications, training, incident learning and employee engagement activities.

Support incident investigations, root-cause analysis and tracking of corrective and preventive actions.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to integrate EHS&S requirements into business processes.

Drive continuous improvement of EHS&S processes, systems, tools and reporting practices. Demonstrate Astellas Values & Behaviours, including Outcome Focus, Accountability, Courage, Sense of Urgency and One Astellas.

Essential Qualifications

Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Sustainability, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

Significant experience in EHS, sustainability, compliance, governance, risk management, or a related corporate function.

Proven track record of leading complex programmes and delivering results in a multinational or matrix environment.

Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, compliance requirements, reporting processes, and risk management principles.

Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.

Business-level English language skills, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional certifications in EHS, sustainability, risk management, or related fields are advantageous.

Experience supporting audits, assurance activities, regulatory reporting, or data governance programmes.

Japanese language skills would be considered an asset.
