About the Role:
The Director, IT – Enterprise Architect serves as the enterprise architecture thought leader and provides strategic leadership for the enterprise architecture practice, defining the target-state architecture, standards, and multi-year technology roadmap that align IT investment with enterprise strategy. This role partners with business and IT leaders across research, drug development, manufacturing, quality, commercial, and G&A to translate business capability needs into scalable, compliant, and cost-effective solution architectures. The Director establishes the architecture governance model that guides enterprise technology and architecture decisions in validated and non-validated environments. _
Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
Define and drive the enterprise architecture vision, current and target-state architecture, and multi-year technology roadmap aligned to enterprise business strategy, Translating strategic business priorities into actionable technology direction and investment priorities
Establish, evolve and drive adoption of enterprise architecture frameworks, reference architectures, design principles, and architecture standards that enable consistent enterprise technology decisions
Lead the architecture governance process, including design authority forums, architecture review boards, and exception management
Conduct business capability assessments and capability-to-application mapping to identify gaps, redundancies, and investment priorities
Provide strategic architecture direction and expert guidance for end-to-end solutions across core enterprise platforms, including ERP, CRM, PLM, SCM, quality, laboratory, and financial systems
Define and influence enterprise-wide integration and API strategy, including middleware standards and B2B integration approaches
Define the enterprise data and analytics architecture direction and standards, covering data platforms, data domains, governance, and consumption patterns, in partnership with relevant functional experts
Establish and influence enterprise cloud, security, and AI architecture patterns in partnership with Infrastructure, Information Security, and Data Engineering functions
Ensure architecture designs satisfy GxP, data integrity, privacy, and computer system validation requirements, including 21 CFR Part 11 and GAMP 5 expectations, on a case-by-case basis
Provide strategic architecture leadership on M&A, divestiture, and in-licensing activity, including system integration, separation, and transition planning
Partner with sourcing and vendor management on technology selection, vendor evaluation, and build-versus-buy recommendations
Manage the architecture practice roadmap, budget, and external partner resources to deliver committed outcomes on time and within approved budget
Communicating and influencing alignment on architecture direction to executive stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into business impact, enterprise risk and investment rationale
Anticipate and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend and influence adoption of technologies and patterns that advance enterprise capability and efficiency
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND
12+ years of progressive IT experience, including 8+ years in enterprise or solution architecture and 5+ years providing technical leadership for enterprise architecture initiatives, cross-functional teams, or complex technology programs
Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (MBA preferred) and 10+ years as noted above
Strong command of integration architecture, including API management, event-driven patterns, and enterprise middleware
Working knowledge of modern data architecture, including cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift), lakehouse patterns, and data governance models
Experience architecting on public cloud (AWS or/and Azure), including landing zones, cost optimization, and cloud security patterns
Demonstrated knowledge and experience evaluating and architecting AI, generative AI, automation, and low-code solutions, including use case qualification and platform selection
Proven experience leading architecture for enterprise-scale portfolio rationalization and modernization programs, including architecture workstreams for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and system separations
Familiarity with software development practices, including agile/lean delivery, version control, code review, and CI/CD
Recognized internally as a thought leader and expert in expertise architecture, with broad expertise across related technology disciplines
Influences and negotiates with senior and executive leadership to secure alignment on technology direction and investment
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills
Sees the broader picture and anticipates upstream and downstream impacts across multiple functions, departments, and external partners
Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional programs and initiatives involving significant scope, interdependencies, risk, and organizational impact
Sets direction in ambiguous and complex situations, exercising advanced judgement, and making well-informed decisions with incomplete information

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $195,700.00-$267,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
