Your role:
Join our R&D Lab Water Solutions team and contribute to the development of the next generation of Milli-Q® ultrapure water purification instruments.
As an Embedded Software Technical Lead (f/m), you will play a central role in turning system requirements into robust, integrable, and verifiable software deliverables. At the interface between system architecture, software development, integration, and validation, you will contribute directly to the quality, consistency, and control of product milestones.
Working closely with the System Architect and the Head of Software Development, you will structure the software roadmap, clarify development priorities, and secure the transition of software versions into integration and validation. In doing so, you will help connect product vision, technical decisions, and operational execution.
This position combines technical leadership, cross-functional coordination, and close connection to the product. It will suit someone who enjoys structuring, challenging, arbitrating, and, when needed, going deep into technical topics to unblock a situation.
This position does not currently include direct people management responsibility, but it offers a real scope of technical and cross-functional influence. Depending on your aspirations and the evolution of the organization, it may later develop into people management responsibilities within software development.
The position is based at the LabWater headquarters in Guyancourt, near Paris.
Main responsibilities:
Translate system and functional requirements into clear software requirements, specifications, and acceptance criteria
Structure development work packages, interfaces, dependencies, and intermediate versions in line with system milestones
Track the progress and maturity of developments carried out internally and with external partners
Clarify technical expectations, support contributors, and challenge choices when needed
Perform or coordinate design, implementation, and code reviews
Prepare software versions for integration and validation by securing the availability of the required elements
Assess the maturity of deliverables, analyze gaps, and coordinate the resolution of defects and regressions through to closure
Contribute to traceability across requirements, tests, results, and anomalies, as well as to technical evidence related to applicable requirements, especially in product cybersecurity
Who you are:
You have at least 7 years of experience in embedded software development, software integration, or systems engineering with a strong software component
You are familiar with embedded development in C/C++ on microcontroller platforms, real-time systems, communication interfaces and buses such as I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, or Modbus, and modern software lifecycle tooling (Git, CI/CD, Jira)
You know how to turn system or functional requirements into software specifications, development tasks, and clear acceptance criteria
You have already supported developments through integration on a test bench or on a real product
You are comfortable assessing the maturity of a software deliverable, identifying gaps, and coordinating their resolution
You know how to challenge developers or external partners from a technical standpoint while building an effective and constructive working relationship
You enjoy roles that combine proximity to the code, technical structuring, cross-functional coordination, and collaboration with integration and validation teams
You communicate confidently in both French and English, in writing and verbally
Experience in code review, software design, automation, control systems, state machines, process systems, or product cybersecurity would be a plus

How we calculate "similar"
No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.
Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.
0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
