Your Role: 

MilliporeSigma is looking for a Bioprocessing Applications Engineer to join the Downstream Focused Modalities Applications R&D organization. This individual will take the lead to drive the hands-on, process-focused scientific studies to evaluate prototype and commercialized products and technologies. Centered on understanding the end users’ pain points, goals, and needs, this role will leverage continuous development of process and unit operation expertise to design and execute applications studies which provide guidance for effective process development, optimization and deployment of MilliporeSigma technologies.  This role has a focus on lentivirus manufacturing workflows, and potential to expand to other novel modalities such as AAV, novel mAbs, mRNA, pDNA, and/or peptides.

Responsibilities:

Work on a cross-functional team to deliver application studies using MilliporeSigma product portfolio

Plan, set up, and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate the performance of new technologies, or new product or component prototypes for given application scenario

Define process control strategies and design recipes and methods for optimal operation of MilliporeSigma product offerings

Research literature and attend conferences to keep current with the bioprocessing end user’s process design targets, performance expectations, and general bioprocessing needs

Deliver internal and external written literature and presentations evaluating product designs and/or summarizing experimental results with a focus on technical performance

This position will be based in both Burlington and Bedford, MA.  This position may include domestic or  international travel (5%).

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or other Engineering or Science field with 5+ years of direct bioprocess development experience

OR

Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or other Engineering or Science field with 4+ years of direct bioprocess development experience

OR

PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or other Engineering or Science field

2+ years of experience with setting up and executing downstream unit operations including Chromatography, normal flow filtration and Tangential Flow filtration

2+ years of experience in analytical methods and high throughput platforms with respect to downstream process development

Preferred Qualifications:

Hands on Pharmaceutical and/or Biotechnology industry experience

Excellent problem solving & analytical skills, including data modeling, DoE, and/or statistical analysis

Demonstrated ability to perform analytical assays using HPLC and ELISA methods

Excellent teamwork, and facilitation skills

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers, customers, vendors and supervisor

Excellent ability to communicate through written reports, oral presentations, application notes, poster presentations, and similar media

Pay Range for this position: $80,300 - $120,500

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses. Benefits offered by the Company include health insurance, paid time off (PTO), retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
