About this opportunity

About This Role

The Associate Director, AI Adoption & Change Management will lead the people, process, and workflow changes associated with ongoing and future AI, digital, and technology advances across Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) and the Development Asset Leads (DAL) organization. The portfolio includes AI initiatives, Planisware platform enhancements, workflow automation, and reporting modernization. The role will develop and execute change strategies that enable successful adoption, integration, and sustained use of new capabilities across portfolio and program management operations.

This is primarily a change management and business transformation role with a strong AI adoption component. Approximately 65% of the role will focus on organizational change, stakeholder engagement, workflow transformation, communications, enablement, and sustained adoption; approximately 35% will focus on AI-enabled ways of working, AI use-case adoption, and translating emerging AI capabilities into practical business value. This is not an AI engineering or data science role. The successful candidate will be technically fluent enough to partner effectively with AI, Data, and IT teams, while remaining focused on business adoption and measurable outcomes.

What You’ll Do

Develop and implement integrated change management strategies for AI initiatives, Planisware enhancements, workflow automation, reporting modernization, and associated process, role, and resource changes.

Partner with business leaders, AI Innovation, Data Stewardship, IT, Legal, Compliance, and Quality to assess how proposed changes affect roles, handoffs, decision points, controls, and data expectations.

Lead change activities including stakeholder engagement, sponsor alignment, communications, role-based enablement, training, job aids, office hours, and communities of practice.

Assess change impact, organizational readiness, capability gaps, and resistance; develop targeted interventions that improve confidence and sustained adoption.

Build and manage change champion networks across Program Management, Program Planning, Development Asset Leads, and broader Development functions to accelerate adoption and reinforce desired behaviors.

Help business teams identify practical AI opportunities and determine when the best response is AI enablement, workflow redesign, process simplification, behavior change, or a combination of these.

Translate AI capabilities and limitations into clear workflow implications, role expectations, human-review requirements, and user guidance.

Define, monitor, and report adoption metrics, user engagement indicators, value-realization measures, and solution performance KPIs to leadership.

Promote responsible AI adoption by helping users understand appropriate use, limitations, human oversight, governance expectations, data considerations, and compliance obligations.

Coordinate user acceptance testing, release readiness, go-live support, and post-implementation adoption monitoring for technology and AI initiatives.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; BS/BA with 8+ years, MS with 6+ years, or equivalent experience in change management, technology adoption, digital transformation, or portfolio operations.

Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and business transformation, preferably as a business lead for the implementation and adoption of new systems, digital technologies, AI-enabled solutions, or enterprise platforms.

Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and business transformation, including adoption of new systems, digital technologies, AI-enabled solutions, or enterprise platforms.

Demonstrated ability to identify and address barriers to AI adoption, including process complexity, capability gaps, resistance, uncertainty about role impacts, and lack of confidence in AI-generated outputs.

Working knowledge of AI, generative AI, analytics, automation, and data-driven technologies, including their business applications, limitations, risks, and potential impact on roles, workflows, controls, and decision-making.

Experience leading the people, process, and workflow changes associated with AI-enabled solutions, including readiness assessment, workflow redesign, capability building, user education, feedback collection, reinforcement, and sustained adoption.

Experience applying structured change management methodologies such as Prosci, ADKAR, Kotter, or an equivalent approach.

Ability to translate complex AI, analytics, and data concepts into practical business value, workflow implications, and clear communications for both senior leaders and end users.

Experience developing adoption strategies that integrate stakeholder engagement, sponsor alignment, readiness, communications, training, feedback mechanisms, measurement, and reinforcement.

Ability to partner with technical teams on AI use cases without being responsible for building models or serving as the primary AI engineer.

Excellent ability to align stakeholders around program goals, clarify decision rights, and build consensus across a matrixed organization.

Excellent leadership, communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

Strong strategic planning and implementation skills, including experience defining adoption KPIs and value-realization measures.

Preferred Skills

Experience supporting adoption of generative AI, copilots, AI agents, intelligent automation, or AI-enabled business workflows.

Knowledge of R&D portfolio and program management, resource management, and enterprise PPM systems such as Planisware.

Experience with enterprise AI and productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot or Copilot Studio, Power Platform, SharePoint, Power BI, or Tableau. Tool-specific expertise is helpful but is not the primary qualification.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
